About us
Digital Square brings partners together to improve how the global community designs, uses, and pays for digital health tools and approaches. We work with innovators to advance adaptable, replicable tools that are designed to work together seamlessly. We work with governments and country-based technology experts to strengthen local capacity to implement and manage digital health programs. We work with donors to identify new ways to invest that ensure long-term success and align with country priorities. By strengthening the coordination among these partners, Digital Square reorients the market to better match tools and approaches to the needs of countries and communities. Digital Square is a PATH-led initiative funded and designed by the United States Agency for International Development, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and a consortium of other donors. This LinkedIn page was made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development. AI-enabled tools have the potential to advance #HealthEquity, but they need to be designed for the local health care context. This means intentionally engaging local innovators and end users from day one of the product development cycle. Our recently appointed Chief AI Officer, Bilal Mateen, offers five key reflections informed by PATH’s #AI4Health efforts that outline how we can deliver better care at the last mile using AI. ➡️ https://bit.ly/40wnmTG #DigitalHealthWeek2024 #InclusivityInDigitalHealth

The best decisions are informed decisions. When countries are making decisions about #digitalhealth interventions, Digital Square at PATH offers two tools that provide crucial information to contribute to evidence-based decision-making: 💲 Digital Square’s Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Tool is an interactive budgeting and benchmarking resource intended to help health leaders understand and develop more realistic budgets for digital health projects: https://lnkd.in/durUUvRG 🔢 Digital Square's Sustainability Calculator is designed to estimate what it will cost to deliver sustainable digital health in a country: https://lnkd.in/dCr2KpPt #DigitalHealthWeek2024 #DigitalHealthGovernanceandFinancing #TCO #Sustainability PATH

Digital Square continues to engage with G20 Brasil 2024 and was pleased to co-host an event during the fifth Health Working Group meeting last week in Rio along with PATH, Africa CDC, CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), Pan American Health Organization, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and Brazil's Ministério da Saúde. The global response to Mpox requires seamless collaboration and a multidisciplinary approach, emphasizing equitable vaccine distribution and manufacturing capacity and the use of digital tools and AI to improve disease surveillance community resilience. PATH and Digital Square continue to be active partners in ensuring more effective monitoring through improved data collection—working across borders to help countries develop a clearer understanding of Mpox outbreaks and strengthen their collective response strategies. You can read more about what PATH is doing to respond to the Mpox outbreak here: https://lnkd.in/edP-a4-Y
PATH leaders were honored to join the global health community in Brazil this week for “Scaling the Mpox Response: A Call to Action for Science & Innovation,” a timely gathering as #G20 health and finance ministers convene to tackle today’s pressing health challenges. Held in collaboration with Africa CDC, CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), Pan American Health Organization, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and Brazil's Ministério da Saúde, this event underscored the importance of innovative, coordinated action to tackle #mpox and build resilient health systems. Keynote addresses by Africa CDC Director General Dr. Jean Kaseya, the World Health Organization's Mike Ryan, CEPI's Richard Hatchett, and Brazil's Minister of Health Nísia Trindade Lima reinforced the critical roles of digital health, disease surveillance, and local vaccine manufacturing in enabling health systems to quickly contain and mitigate outbreaks before they spread globally. Against the backdrop of the G20 Health Ministerial meeting, this convening served as a reminder that funding commitments must now translate into actionable support. The path forward requires genuine collaboration to ensure that financing flows where it’s most urgently needed and that innovation and response mechanisms are adequately supported. Thank you to all partners and speakers for bringing these critical issues to the forefront. Together, we’re building a future where epidemics like mpox are identified, controlled, and mitigated before they escalate into global crises. #EpidemicPreparedness #DigitalHealth #OneHealth G20 Brasil 2024 Digital Square at PATH

That's a wrap on the Africa HealthTech Summit - AHTS! We are thrilled to have sponsored this amazing event and had our team speak at several sessions (see: https://lnkd.in/eczm5bhn). The inspiring remarks and thought-provoking discussions on localization, emerging tech, cybersecurity, interoperability, standards, and more helped drive the momentum to continue unlocking the potential of #digitalhealth and #data—both in and for Africa. We are also grateful to have connected with many of our existing partners and to uncover opportunities with new ones. For those who attended #AHTS24, what was your biggest takeaway? PATH recently collaborated with health officials in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to upgrade and bring online the eClinica system, a patient database used to streamline HIV patient registration and treatment monitoring. With funding and technical support from the US CDC’s Technical Assistance Platform, the online version of eClinica has now been rolled out to 34 outpatient clinics in HCMC, fully replacing the previously offline system. Now clinics can easily share data, process patient referrals, and share data with health officials to accurately monitor and analyze citywide HIV case data and treatment trends. ➡️ Learn more about the process of upgrading the eClinica system here: https://lnkd.in/eXEpmgqY
