In a recent interview with Bisnow, our Founder and CEO, Elizabeth Funk, discussed how we are tackling one of California's most pressing issues: over 50% of the nation's unsheltered homeless population lives in our state. At DignityMoves, we focus on addressing unsheltered homelessness, which is the most visible and inhumane. We're driving innovative solutions and interim housing communities that can be built fast, cost-effectively, and at a scale that can meet demand. We're honored and excited to share that #DignityMoves has been selected as a recipient of the Citi Foundation 2024 Global Innovation Challenge to Advance Solutions to Homelessness. The $500k grant will support the expansion of our interim supportive housing model through the Transforming Communities with Dignity Initiative, which aims to scale the ISH solution across the US. Funds will facilitate the development of interim housing communities, dissemination of our "open source" playbook, and community outreach, while catalyzing the movement to end unsheltered homelessness.

🚨 Breaking News! 🚨 Last Friday marked a monumental step in addressing the homelessness crisis in California. Governor Newsom has signed the #InterimHousingAct into law—a landmark legislation aimed at providing innovative and dignified interim housing solutions. We are incredibly proud to have sponsored this bill alongside the Bay Area Council, SPUR, and San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. BIG special thanks to State Senator Josh Becker in leading this effort, co-authors State Senators Catherine Blakespear and Anna Caballero and Assemblymember Gregg Hart for championing this cause. This law sends a powerful message to cities: Homelessness is a crisis, and it demands urgent, creative solutions. Together, we are building pathways to supportive housing that honors the dignity of every individual.
