Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dinsmore’s Women’s Initiative welcomed Lori Falke from the Karen Wellington Foundation for LIVING with Breast Cancer (KWF), and Erin Spangler of Mercy Health to talk about their respective roles and women’s health. Lori is the Donor Relations Manager at KWF, a nonprofit based in Cincinnati that works to put FUN on the calendar for women and families living with breast cancer. Since 2007, 3,000 gifts of FUN have been given away, including trips, spa days and other adventures. Erin is the Program Coordinator of Women’s Imaging at Mercy Health, and organized a visit from the mammogram van to the Firm’s Cincinnati office. Advocating for early detection and education has been a deeply personal passion for Dinsmore’s Senior Proposal Manager Jason K. Brubaker and his wife, Beth, who courageously fought breast cancer during her pregnancy. They are heavily involved in KWF’s mission, grateful recipients of a FUN day, and share their story in the memoir, “25 Months,” which you can order here: https://lnkd.in/gmiUGJ3n

Several Dinsmore attorneys have returned from a productive week at the DRI Annual Meeting in Seattle, where two of our members contributed as panelists. Lauren Motes and Sarah Smith led insightful sessions on the challenges young lawyers face in gaining trial experience and the impact of emerging technology on the insurance industry, respectively. Shane Dawson, a partner in the Firm's workers' compensation practice group, had the pleasure of co-hosting a panel discussion on Comp Conversations, a podcast produced by DRI. A special congratulations to Jill Cranston Rice on her advancement to First Vice President, following her election to DRI’s Executive Committee last year. DRI is the nation’s largest association for civil defense attorneys and in-house counsel. We look forward to connecting with everyone next year in Chicago!

Attorneys and business professionals in Dinsmore’s Louisville and Cleveland offices recently got in the Halloween spirit to support local causes. First, the Louisville team’s annual Halloween candy drive helped stock Dinsmore’s station for Dreams With Wings Inc.’ Jack O’Lantern Stroll and Trunk or Treat event. Dreams with Wings is a nonprofit that works to empower children and adults with intellectual and developmental challenges. The fundraiser has become a premier Halloween event in the Kentuckiana area. In Cleveland, everyone put on their costumes and running shoes for the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s annual Run for Justice. The fundraiser benefits CMBF’s mission to provide important law-related education and enhanced educational opportunities to the students in the Cleveland and East Cleveland City Schools.
