The Discoveri Meet and Greet Breakfast event speaking alongside Francis Kamulegeya and Victoria Nyanzi, MCIPR, DipCIPR is arguably the highlight of my year. I'm clocking a year back in Uganda from DC and I have to say it has been phenomenal for my personal growth. What an incredible experience it was to engage in deep, important human resources issues with young people. We need to move away from condemning GenZ for being "different" in the work place and question the level of preparation we are putting into getting them to adjust. In many cases, it is the workplace that has a problem and not the employee. Where do we find a balance between resilience and tolerating emotional abuse in the workplace? Why do we encourage people to leave toxic marriages but encourage others to stay in toxic workplaces? How do we drown out noise, pressure and stress in order to get a job done well? How do we prepare GenZ for it? How do we get over the instant gratification epidemic that is fueling corruption and abuse of resources in the workplace? Is it workplace culture or is it a reflection of what is already in our society? So many questions, so little time. Thank you Lilian Bagambe and Collin Muhumuza for honoring me with this invitation.
