Last week Disney Experiences wrapped up the 2024 Leadership Learning Events at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Over two weeks, these events brought nearly 9,000 Disney Experiences leaders together at Walt Disney World Resort. Attendees immersed themselves in learning through keynote speakers, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and more. During the event, Disney Institute facilitated a breakout session titled “Driving Innovation Through Leadership” in our immersive learning space to nearly 500 Disney leaders. This session focused on how leaders can develop a culture of creativity to innovate solutions that address the evolving needs of their business. Participants walked away with an understanding of the leadership skills necessary to foster creativity, gain buy-in and drive innovation. Leadership Learning Events are just one way that Disney Experiences showcases their focus on employee engagement. By intentionally investing in the personal and professional growth of their leaders, the Disney Experiences executive team demonstrates genuine care. Last year, AdventHealth opened their offsite emergency room department at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS Town Center, establishing a first-of-its-kind health care experience. To help prepare for the opening of the facility, Disney Institute and AdventHealth deepened their longstanding relationship to bring a new level of service to health care within their community. Prior to the grand opening of AdventHealth’s ER at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS Town Center, the staff received training from Disney Institute in insights and best practices that have been used to provide exceptional service to Guests at The Walt Disney Company’s parks and resorts Disney Institute’s relationship with AdventHealth dates back more than 15 years, as Disney Institute has helped reimagine the patient's health care experience. Since then, AdventHealth continues to utilize concepts and insights from Disney Institute to train and develop their staff, ensuring exceptional health care service for each patient. Each year Walt Disney World Resort recognizes nonprofit organizations that are bringing joy, happiness, and magic to families through monetary donations called Disney Grants. Recently, the seven 2024 Disney Grants recipients were surprised with the news of a $500,000 donation at a special performance of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Before they were surprised with the news, they started the day by attending a Disney Institute training session in our immersive learning space at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The session provided insights around the power of intentionality and delivering exceptional service experiences. Upon completion of the session, participants earned their ears during a graduation ceremony. Congratulations to the 2024 Disney Grant recipients! Last week, Disney Institute was invited by our friends at Disney Imagination Campus to be part of this year's ScIC Science is Cool by PocketLab at Epcot. This amazing daylong virtual event provided a packed agenda for K-12 educators from across the country and around the world, and we were thrilled to provide Walt Disney World as the backdrop. In conversation with Dave Bakker, I shared some thoughts around the concept of 'leadership' and how we here at Disney think about it - and how we define it very broadly. We also talked about classrooms being organizations in their own right, what that means for teachers as leaders, and what some simple yet powerful tools are for value-driven leadership.
