  • "Feeling safe" is not good enough. It's about whether or not you ARE safe, following correct safety guidelines and adhering to safety standards! #nofalls

I don’t care how infrequently you’re up there or how “safe” you feel; if have workers at heights, they should be tied-off. For the workers in this video, something like Diversified Fall Protection’s P-Series Overhead Truss System would be a no-brainer. You simply drive it up with a forklift, park it, and your workers can work safely—without the hazard of hitting the tarmac below. You can look at this solution and other mobile fall protection options on our website ---> https://lnkd.in/gNFg9Zdj It takes a little planning and might require a few extra steps before you begin your task, but isn’t living to see another day worth it? I think so. #nofalls #fallprotection #safety #PPE

Falls & Falling Objects. Both are hazards that must be mitigated whenever work is being performed at-height. The former is a danger to your personal safety and the latter is a danger to the folks working underneath you. You never know what could fall from the sky while workers are above you, so be sure to stay clear and stay safe! This morning we unfortunately had to remove a dead tree from our front yard, and a branch flung about fifty feet in the air all the way back into our garden. Nobody was hurt and the tomatoes were fine, but it just goes to show that we must always expected the unexpected to happen whenever work at-heights is being performed. And don’t worry, I made sure the guy in the bucket donned his harness and stayed connected the entire time. His chainsaw was tethered as well! 🤘 #fallprotection #droppedobjectprevention #nofalls #safety #PPE

  • Theo Burkett III, Jason Kunz, and Fastenal Safety Connect. That's the trifecta for a great week. Happy Monday! #nofalls

When you run into Theo Burkett III to start the week. You know things are looking up… My friend, Rene introduced me to the “Courage Scale” about a decade ago. The TLDR is that life, relationships, interactions are simply a transfer of energy. In other words. At any given moment. We’re either instilling energy into others. Leaving them lifted. “Filling their cups” as some say. Or, leaving them deflated. Dejected. Sucking the energy out of them and out of the space. A beautiful, and tangible way to think about this. And the impact you have on others. (Because no one wants to admit they’re an energy vampire). To understand where you personally more often land on the “scale.” Is to consider the following: When you show up on Caller ID. What’s the immediate reaction the recipient has? When the garage door opens, indicating you’ve arrived home for the night. What’s the initial (automatic) response of your partner, spouse, children? When your colleagues see your name pop up on Teams or hear that ping indicating the same. Good news? Or, not so much… Energy in? Or. Energy out. Because there is no neutral. We’re always transferring and transmitting energy. Filling cups. Or, pouring them out. Not in the “for my homies” sense either. One of the many things I love about Theo, and Andrew Hoene. Who gifted me this incredible, custom jersey with my company’s name on the back. Is they’re constantly looking for ways to generate and then transfer the type of energy we need more of. Each time we cross paths. I leave lifted. Which requires courage on their part. Because it would be really easy to focus on what’s not working. To make superficial small talk (gossip) about this person or that. The weather. The game. The bad boss. The election… But it takes courage to ask about what goal you’re chasing. How you’re planning to close 2024 strong. What you’ve been doing to work on yourself. How you’re showing up at home. And what a beautiful way to walk through life. Above the artificial, yet very real line that is courage. Which is why I say. It’s gonna be a good day. I pray the same for you 👊🏽

  • It's important to wear the right harness in the right situation! #nofalls #fallprotection

Happy #fallprotectionfriday! This Friday, I'm so grateful to my friends over at ISHN Magazine for sharing our recent article 'How to Determine Which Fall Protection Harness is the Right Fall Protection Harness' Choosing the "right" harness for your crew can be an open-ended question, and sometimes, there is not one solution that works for everyone. Even if two workers on your crew perform the same tasks and have the same needs, they might need two different harnesses. Everything depends on everything. From the article, "Sometimes, the best #PPE is not the one that costs the most or has the most features, but it's the PPE that a user will wear correctly every time." • The force is strong with those that know when to use a Class 1 SRL and when to use a Class 2 SRL! #nofalls

DON'T DO IT! DON'T GO TO THE DARK SIDE! But seriously, using a Class 1 SRL with a foot-level anchor point is a mistake only a foolish Sith would make. Class 1 SRLs must only be used with overhead anchorages. Technically anything above the dorsal d-ring is allowed, but the higher your anchor, the better. As Darth Vader once warned, "Don't underestimate the Force." I'm pretty sure he was referring to the extreme forces that will occur when your lifeline goes over the edge of your walking working surface and the additional forces you will generate during freefall. If you must use a foot-level anchorage, use a Class 2 SRL. They're designed & tested to hold up to the forces anticipated from five feet of free fall and on a leading edge with a diameter down to 0.005in.
