Diversity Action Alliance reposted this
According to data from the Diversity Action Alliance (DAA) only 7% of PR and communication professionals are Black. Work [action] is being done by the DAA, Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and many organizations to make the profession more diverse and inclusive. While attending PRSA’s annual ICON conference in Anaheim, CA this week, there were multiple DE&I sessions where speakers talked about the lack of representation in the profession (and how to move the needle) and how to continue doing this critical DE&I work that impacts employees, customers, and communities globally. Through PRSA’s Black Voices Affinity Group, many Black PRSA ICON conference attendees came together to network and socialize (seen in photo). Represented at this gathering were working professionals, students or alumni of HBCUs, Black students from PWI’s, and those who are members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (also referred to as the Divine Nine). Sabrina N. Browne and I co-lead the PRSA Black Voices Affinity Group. Link below if you’re a PRSA member and want to learn more about our affinity groups and how to join our group and get involved. Participation in PRSA affinity groups is not limited by race, gender, background, sexual identity, or any other factor. We’ll see you in DC in 2025 at PRSA ICON! Can’t wait to see this group being twice as large next year! https://lnkd.in/gYj5TjqJ #PRSA #PRSAICON #DiversityEquityInclusion #RepresentationMatters #BlackInPR FleishmanHillard
