Growing up, I changed schools 33 times between kindergarten and 12th grade. Each move meant leaving behind friends, adjusting to new environments, and constantly learning how to start over. That experience shaped me in many ways, but one of the biggest impacts was this: it made me risk-averse. As a kid, all I wanted was stability. I craved the security of staying in one place, of knowing the people around me. And as I got older, that need for stability followed me—especially when it came to my career. Every time I considered striking out on my own as an entrepreneur, I’d find myself pulled back to the safety of a full-time job. I told myself it was “smart” and “responsible,” but looking back, I see that those choices were often rooted in fear. Every time I chose the “stable” path, it was an excuse not to push through the discomfort and uncertainty that comes with entrepreneurship. Deep down, I knew what I really wanted—to use my voice, share my message, and build something of my own. But I let my fear of the unknown hold me back. Here’s what I’ve learned: Real growth and success require us to push through the fear. It’s uncomfortable, yes. But if we always stick to what feels safe, we risk missing out on our true potential. If you’re holding back on a goal or dream because it feels risky, ask yourself: Is it really a lack of readiness, or is it the fear of stepping into the unknown? You don’t have to have everything figured out to take the first step. Sometimes, we just need to trust ourselves enough to try, even if it’s uncomfortable. So here’s my encouragement for you today: Push through. Whatever that looks like for you, take one small step toward the thing that scares you. Growth happens outside our comfort zones—and who knows what amazing things are waiting for you on the other side. What’s one step you can take today to push through fear and embrace your potential? #MidweekMotivation #PushThrough #EmbraceRisk #GrowthMindset #Entrepreneurship #FearlessLiving #WednesdayWisdom

Sometimes, we struggle to see the value we bring to others. Imposter syndrome and unconscious beliefs creep in, making us question if we truly belong or deserve the opportunities in front of us. I know this feeling well—I didn’t always feel like I belonged, either. Growing up, I changed schools 33 times from kindergarten through 12th grade. Every move meant starting over—new classrooms, new faces, and a new need to connect quickly so I didn’t have to spend lunch or recess alone. That constant upheaval created a deep desire in me to belong, a drive that eventually shaped my journey as an HR Director. It made me passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and included—because I know how painful it is to feel like an outsider. Belonging isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s a fundamental need that affects how we show up, engage, and contribute in every part of our lives. When we feel like we belong, we step into our full potential. But when we doubt ourselves, we hold back. One of the ways I’ve learned to challenge these limiting beliefs is by surrounding myself with advocates—people who remind me of my worth, especially on days when I question it. My husband has always been my greatest advocate. He sees my potential, even when I can’t, and he reminds me of the value I bring to the world. So here’s my challenge for you: How are you nurturing a sense of belonging for yourself and for those around you? And who are your advocates—the people who remind you of your worth? If you don’t have those people yet, start building those relationships. And if you know someone who might be questioning their own value, take a moment today to remind them of the impact they have. Sometimes, a simple reminder from a trusted advocate is all it takes to break through self-doubt. #Belonging #ImposterSyndrome #SelfWorth #Leadership #SupportSystem #SeenValuedBelong #TuesdayTruth

One of our greatest rights as American citizens is the right to vote. For me, this isn’t just a civic duty—it’s deeply personal. As someone who has dedicated her career to helping people feel seen, valued, heard, and that they belong, the right to vote holds a profound significance. Voting is one of the clearest ways we can make our voices heard, ensuring that every perspective is included in shaping our communities and our future. I’m not here to talk politics. I simply want to remind everyone of the power and importance of expressing your voice. So today, make it count. Vote. #ElectionDay #Vote #YourVoiceMatters #CivicDuty #SeenValuedBelong

Last week, I had the honor of spending time with the National Park Service supervisory staff in the breathtaking setting of #Yosemite. We spent the week diving into topics like effective delegation, motivation & engagement, and coaching. But what made this experience truly meaningful was the openness and authenticity of the participants. There was a powerful moment when they realized that no one has all the answers—and that there’s a certain confidence that comes from accepting this truth. I loved watching them connect with each other in a way that went beyond training, as they began to see the importance of taking time to truly know their team members. One of the highlights? I encouraged them to step outside and take a walk in pairs, coaching each other through challenges. As they walked through Yosemite’s majestic landscape, they found themselves connecting more deeply and discovering new solutions together. It was a reminder that sometimes, the best breakthroughs happen outside the office, when we take a moment to listen, reflect, and support one another. So here’s my challenge to you: How can you create time and space to truly connect with your team? Take a walk, listen deeply, and help each other find solutions. It’s one of the greatest investments you can make in building a connected, purpose-driven team. #LeadershipDevelopment #NationalParkService #Yosemite #EmployeeEngagement #InvestInYourPeople #PurposeDrivenLeadership #CoachingOnTheMove

With a schedule packed full of trainings, keynotes, and conference sessions across the U.S., it would be so easy for me to say, “I’m just too busy to keep up with everyone.” But if I’ve learned anything about connection and belonging, it’s that they don’t happen by accident—they happen by intention. I call it my Intentional Relationship Strategy (IRS). It’s my way of making sure that, no matter how busy life gets, I’m prioritizing the relationships that matter to me. This past weekend, despite a full schedule, I made a point to set everything aside to reconnect with a former colleague and dear friend, Jenifer. We talked, we laughed, and I got to truly listen to where she’s at in her life right now. Had I let my to-do list get in the way, I would have missed that chance to show up for someone I care about. We often underestimate the power of simply being present for the people in our lives, whether it’s in our personal relationships or with our coworkers and teams. But when we take the time to be intentional about connecting, it reminds others that they’re seen, valued, and heard. So here’s my tip for you as we head into the weekend: Try creating a space of belonging for someone in your life. Set aside a few minutes, ask them an open-ended question—“How have you been doing lately?” or “What’s been on your mind recently?”—and really listen to what they have to say. You might be surprised by how much it means to them—and to you. Who could you make time for this weekend? #Belonging #IntentionalRelationships #SelfCare #ListenDeeply #ConnectionMatters #FridayTip #BePresent

As a speaker and trainer, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing that my work resonates with others. Recently, I received a message from someone who watched my presentation for Ohio SHRM on “Human Touch in a High-Tech World.” Here’s what they said: “Dr. Church, I just finished the on-demand presentation you created for Ohio SHRM regarding human touch in a high tech world. I wanted to drop you a quick note of thanks for the presentation. It was absolutely FASCINATING! Extremely insightful and inspiring. Loved it!” Messages like this remind me why I do what I do. My mission is to help people feel seen, valued, and empowered—especially in a world where technology often overshadows human connection. Knowing that this presentation inspired someone makes every late night, every hour of preparation, and every ounce of passion I put into my work feel absolutely worth it. This journey hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had my share of doubts and fears, especially when I first left my corporate role to pursue speaking full-time. But moments like these reinforce that I’m on the right path, and that the work I’m doing has real meaning for the people I serve. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way. And thank you to the people who take the time to share these moments of gratitude—it means the world to me. Who in your life has made you feel seen, valued, or empowered? Take a moment to tag them in the comments and let them know. Let’s celebrate the people who lift us up and help us reach our potential. #MilestoneMoment #Gratitude #CelebrateSuccess #Empowerment #HumanConnection #OhioSHRM #ThankfulThursday #MakingAnImpact

In every training class I conduct, I ask my students a simple but powerful question: “What’s one intentional action you’re going to commit to as a result of taking this class?” Why do I ask this? Because true change doesn’t come from big, perfect leaps. It comes from small, intentional steps. I call them “1-degree shifts”—the kind of actions that may feel small in the moment but, over time, can transform your entire path. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of perfection, waiting for the “right” moment to start something big, or holding off until we feel completely ready. But here’s what I’ve learned: the “perfect” time rarely arrives. If we wait for perfection, we often end up waiting forever. The magic lies in progress. In committing to those small steps forward, one day at a time, and being intentional about where we’re headed. This mindset has been a game-changer in my own speaking career, and I’ve seen it work wonders for those I’ve coached. By focusing on what we can do today, we let go of the need to have it all figured out. We give ourselves permission to learn, grow, and keep moving forward. So, here’s my challenge to you today: What’s one thing you’ve been waiting to start? Maybe it’s something big like a career change, or something small like a new habit or skill. Whatever it is, take a moment to commit to one tiny, intentional step forward. Because it’s not about doing it perfectly. It’s about making it happen. #ProgressOverPerfection #MidweekMotivation #1DegreeShift #IntentionalLiving #SmallStepsBigImpact #TakeAction
