Creating Connections and Conversations That Matter to strengthen mental health and emotional wellbeing for young people.

About us

DMAX Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, founded by Lee and Laurie Maxwell after the loss of their 18-year-old son to suicide in 2013. The mission is to create connections and conversations that matter to strengthen mental health and emotional well-being for young people. Our main focus is to establish and support student-led mental health DMAX Clubs on college campuses, which are trusting environments for students to have honest everyday conversations about mental health so they can understand and help each other. DMAX Clubs are a place for students to talk about whatever is on their minds. In addition, DMAX Foundation hosts educational events several times per year.

As students head back to campus, I’m reminded of how challenging it can be to adjust to a new semester. Though it's going back almost 10 years (wow, can it really be that long?!), I can still remember the uncertainty and anxiety I felt leaving home for the first time. Moving to school where I didn’t know anyone and being two hours away from most family and friends was, at times, overwhelming. I got involved with the DMAX Foundation pretty early on, and it gave me the opportunity to speak with other students about the everyday stresses of college and being a young person. Now, I sit on the DMAX Board and support their mission to bring these same conversations and connections to young people on college campuses. Right now, we’re running our Back to Campus Fundraiser, and there’s less than 10 days left! This fundraiser is about giving students the support I know they need, and we can all make an impact. Please help us expand DMAX’s reach—every contribution counts. 🙌 👉 Donate here: https://lnkd.in/ewGqeyEH #BackToCampus #SupportMentalHealth #DMAXStrong 💬 What’s one way a conversation helped you through a tough time? Share your experience in the comments or tag someone in your network who supports mental health.

SPEAK - A Storytelling Event is only a couple of days away! At the event, we are excited to honor Craig Kramer! Craig was on our board for several years and worked as the Mental Health Ambassador and Chair with Janssen Neuroscience, where he led a team that sought to transform mental health on a global scale. February is Black History Month! Nearly 65% of African American youth report traumatic experiences, compared to 30% of their peers from other ethnic groups? We are committed to creating spaces that are welcoming to everyone, no matter their background - today, tomorrow, and always.
