Doctors Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers kicked off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink ribbons! Hospital administrators and staff welcomed physicians, volunteers and a breast cancer survivor as they shared important messages on the importance of early detection. The pink ribbons were made by the Auxiliary Volunteers and were placed around the main entrance at the cancer center and on trees throughout the hospital grounds. Doctors Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers will kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink ribbons at Doctors Hospital on Wednesday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the main lobby. We are grateful to our volunteers for all their hard work in making the pink ribbons that are placed around the main entrance, at the Cancer Center and on trees throughout the hospital grounds. “The pink ribbons serve as a reminder to create public awareness in support of breast cancer patients, survivors and their family members,” CEO Andrew Wilson said. “We are thankful to our volunteers who hand make the ribbons and decorate our hospital grounds. We also hope to remind our friends and family that early detection is the best prevention.”

We hosted our 50-year anniversary celebration on Thursday! Local community leaders, the Board of Governors, physicians and hospital team members attended the event in the main lobby greeted by the TAMIU Mariachi International Group. CEO Andrew Wilson welcomed guests and shared a video highlighting Doctors Hospital’s journey through the five decades of caring for the community. The cafeteria was transformed into a beautiful reception area where hospital team members greeted guests. “Celebrating 50 years is not just about looking back, it is about looking forward,” Wilson shared. “We will continue to invest in our facilities, expand our services, and above all, provide the best care possible to the community we are proud to serve.” Doctors Hospital also honored the one and only employee who is celebrating 50 years of service this year. Supply Chain Supervisor Amelia Garza was honored with a special award for her loyalty and dedication to DHL. “We congratulate Ms. Garza for reaching this incredible milestone with us,” Wilson said. “Her legacy is truly inspirational. We are thrilled to have her on our team, and we will continue to celebrate the 50-year anniversary with her.” Thank you to everyone who attended this special event and making it truly one to remember!
