This past weekend, Team Sandy Eagles blasted off for the 42nd annual Leap - Arts In Education Sandcastle Classic! Our team, with students from George Moscone Elementary School and partners from Arup, Gensler, Western Allied Mechanical, and Women in Construction, a Bay Area SMACNA Mission Partner, united for a cause bigger than us all—bringing top-tier arts education to Bay Area students. Leap's mission is to deliver high-quality arts education programs that empower students to reach their fullest potential. They envision a world where art is a vital part of every child's educational journey and success. Every dollar raised from this event brings them closer to that goal, equipping students with essential 21st-century skills: creativity, innovation, resourcefulness, critical thinking, problem-solving, goal-setting, experimentation, resilience, diversity appreciation, and collaboration. A huge thank you to Megan Anderson for leading the team at Dome, and everyone who helped launch our sandcastle into orbit!

Last week, we proudly participated in Construction Inclusion Week, standing alongside our industry peers to champion a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive industry. Each day highlighted a different theme, underscoring the importance of fostering inclusivity throughout our work.   On Thursday, we embraced the theme of Workplace Culture with a celebration of our people and values. Our Women's Leadership Committee hosted a culturally diverse lunch and a series of engaging activities that brought us closer together. The day featured:     ✨ Lotería: A beloved game in Hispanic households, Lotería connected us to cultural roots while adding some fun to the day.    🎓 Trivia: We challenged participants with DEI-related questions, sparking meaningful conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the industry.   🔧 Building Challenge: Teams collaborated to construct a bridge capable of holding a potato, promoting teamwork, creativity, and new connections across departments.   📚 The Human Library: Led by Dr. Kellie A. McElhaney, this experience encouraged participants to break down barriers by engaging in open dialogue with individuals from different backgrounds.   It was a truly impactful day filled with connection, learning, and a shared commitment to creating a culture where everyone belongs. We’re proud to continue embracing the richness of our diverse backgrounds and building a stronger, more inclusive community.   #DomeIncludes #ConstructionInclusionWeek #CIW2024

On the last day of Construction Inclusion Week, we’re highlighting the importance of Community Engagement—with a special focus on Workforce Development. At Dome, we believe that investing in people is the key to shaping a thriving- built environment for today and tomorrow. Through inclusive training programs and opportunities for diverse talent, our workforce development initiatives aim to bridge gaps and cultivate a workforce that reflects the diversity of our society. By engaging the community in these efforts, we not only develop skilled professionals but also foster sustainable, equitable construction practices that benefit everyone. Beyond workforce development, The Dome Construction Foundation is dedicated to creating positive, lasting change in the communities where we live and work. We focus on three key areas: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Underserved Youth, and Employee-Inspired Community Engagement. Since 2019, we’ve donated $2.7 million to over 200 nonprofit organizations. Our impact goes beyond financial support—whether it’s volunteering at local food banks, organizing beach cleanups, or assisting with community rebuilding projects, we’re committed to actively engaging and making a difference. At Dome, giving back is more than a mission—it’s a foundational part of who we are. We’re proud to support workforce development and community initiatives that inspire growth, sustainability, and inclusivity. On Day 4 of Construction Inclusion Week, we’re focusing on Workplace Culture—the foundation of an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for all. A positive culture not only ensures that everyone feel valued, but also boosts productivity, enhances safety, fosters psychological well-being, and leads to better outcomes for our clients. At Dome , we believe that when every worker feels respected and safe, both physically and psychologically, they can perform their best work. Creating this culture requires active participation from everyone. It’s about building workspaces free from bias and harassment, where all voices are heard, and everyone has a seat at the table. This is what our clients expect—teams that are truly collaborative, diverse, and inclusive, not just on paper but in practice. Simply put, workplace culture isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we live every day. By caring for one another and fostering respect, we can create spaces where everyone thrives, both at work and beyond. #DomeIncludes #ConstructionInclusionWeek #CIW2024

On Day 3 of Construction Inclusion Week, we’re highlighting the importance of Supplier Diversity—a business practice that includes businesses owned by underrepresented groups. This includes minority-owned, women-owned, LGBTQ+, veteran, disability-owned, and small businesses. Supplier diversity not only creates a more inclusive economy but also brings fresh perspectives and innovation to the construction industry. At Dome, we’re committed to expanding partnerships through our Supplier/Trade Diversity Program, led by Cynthia Seward, our DEI Specialist. Cynthia works closely with small and diverse businesses, helping them with prequalification's and providing mentorship to support their growth. We also attend supplier diversity events to meet potential trade partners and introduce them to our work. Our goal is to increase the percentage of our spend with diverse suppliers each year, creating a more equitable business environment. By diversifying our trade partners, we’re fostering a stronger, more inclusive construction industry. Head on over to our website to read more about some of our Diverse Trade Partners. https://hubs.la/Q02TsY9D0 #DomeIncludes #ConstructionInclusionWeek #CIW2024
