We’re delighted to announce the recipient of this year’s #OpenDoorsProject. Black Lives Matter Phoenix Metro is committed to building a life-affirming world that advances Black liberation. They simultaneously focus on tearing down the old world while building a new one. It’s an honor to support their mission and create doorways to a more equitable world. We can’t wait to work with their team in the months ahead to reimagine their brand, website, and how they communicate their work and impact. Stay tuned to witness the evolution.

Wondering whether it’s worth your time to apply for the #OpenDoorsProject? Meet last year’s recipient: Phoenix Legal Action Network (PLAN). They received a new website, a brand refresh, and apparently a whole lot more—all for free! Their Executive Director Rekha Nair said… “It became very clear from our first conversation that we were getting a lot more than a website. This project really helped us better think about how to explain our work and more compellingly present our mission. Working with Doorway brought our mission around to better reflect our larger goal of reimagining justice… [and] helped us think about better ways to explain our programs as strategies.” As a result, their team of two has had an easier time this year: clearly and quickly communicating their vision and mission, adding value to their community, creating their annual impact report, designing content to promote their programs, and applying for grants. If your nonprofit needs a strong foundation to support your work, we encourage you to apply. It's for nonprofits of all sizes, maturity & structure. The only requirement is that your work is led or informed by people who are impacted. Learn more on our website (link comments).

We’ve been working on a brand and website project for the last 10 months for an organization doing some deeply important and transformative work. And we’re delighted to share the outcome. Meet Donors of Color Network (DOCN). They’re the only cross-racial donor network focused on advancing racial equity and justice. Amidst their strategic planning process, it became clear that they needed a cohesive brand identity, a more accessible website, and a members-only portal to serve as a hub and connect their growing member network to resources, events, and each other. We’ve had the privilege of working closely with a powerful trio of communicators and collaborators— Viv Tran, Chika Ekemezie, and Jen Sarduy—to co-create a brand that reflects DOCN’s vibrant community and a website intentionally designed to support their mission. Nearly every member of their staff and board informed this work. It’s a true honor to support their vision of a just and equitable future where Black, Indigenous, and all communities of color can thrive fully in a joyful society free from violence and systemic racism. Learn more about how they’re bridging the gap between mainstream philanthropy and racial justice movements at donorsofcolor.org.
