Since joining dormakaba Americas, Luis has transformed his role from a Spanish Interpreter into one of the most influential HR representatives and respected leaders within the organization. His commitment to supporting employees is reflected in his daily efforts to address challenges faced by both employees and supervisors. Luis’s contributions include facilitating new employee training, assisting with paperwork, and fostering effective communication between teams. He has also ensured that essential safety and policy documents are accurately translated and ready for program launches.
A remarkable achievement under Luis’s leadership has been dormakaba’s English Acquisition program, created in partnership with Warren Township School’s Adult Education program. This initiative, funded by state resources, integrates High School Equivalency exams with English language classes. To date, 24 employees have earned their high school equivalency, 52 ESL participants have enrolled, and over 2,400 hours of class time have been logged. The program has achieved an 82.58% rate in measurable skill gains, significantly surpassing the national average of 40%. The new cohort, that started in August of this year, had a record enrollment of 43 employees.
Luis's leadership and the success of the ESL program earned dormakaba the prestigious IAACE’s Adult Education Award, presented at the Indiana State Capitol—a testament to the impact of his efforts on both individuals and the organization.
Beyond educational programs, Luis has been a vital contributor to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, fostering employee development and growth. His leadership has led to tangible career advancements within the team, showcasing his dedication to helping employees reach their potential.
Trust and communication are central to Luis’s influence. By bridging language barriers, he has earned the trust of employees and leadership, playing a key role in building a more inclusive and diverse workforce at dormakaba. His efforts have resulted in improved employee engagement, retention, and overall workforce development.
