  • Defendant Found Guilty of Multiple Counts of Aggravated Stalking On September 25th, a Douglas County jury rendered a guilty verdict against twenty-three-year-old Truman Bradley for multiple counts of aggravated stalking. Superior Court Judge Cynthia Adams presided over the trial. The prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorney Chelcee Jones and Assistant District Attorney Nelly Ndounteng. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with Investigator Christina Clark as the lead law enforcement officer. In June 2022, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spoke to the victims regarding unwanted contact from the defendant, who was identified as Truman Bradley. Bradley had been contacting the victim and her father despite a twelve-month no-contact order. The female victim had met Bradley at a church camp the previous year, and after the camp, he began to show up randomly at the victims’ residence in Douglas County. In November 2021, Bradley was given a criminal trespass warning to stay away from their residence, but he violated this warning in December 2021. Subsequently, Bradley was served with a no-contact protective order in January 2022. Despite the order, Bradley continued to attempt to contact the female victim. He would text mutual acquaintances to pass along messages, contacted SHAREHouse to pass messages to the victim, and enrolled in the university the victim was scheduled to attend in the Fall of 2022. In May, Bradley directly called and texted the victim. Then, in June, he posted videos on YouTube singing songs directed to the victim and texted the link to the videos to the victim and multiple mutual friends. Bradley also reached out to the victim’s father and left him a detailed voicemail in June. All voicemails, text messages, and links to the videos were shared with law enforcement. After hearing all the evidence and testimony, the jury returned a guilty verdict, convicting Truman Bradley of multiple counts of aggravated stalking. Sentencing is scheduled for a later date. Douglas County District Attorney Dalia Racine stated, “Stalking behaviors are huge red flags for potential future violent contact. The continuous refusal of this defendant to respect the wishes of the victim to not be contacted, even with court intervention, demands our attention and action. We want our community to understand that stalking is not a nuisance, it is a crime. We should take these behaviors seriously and report this conduct to law enforcement." For more information on the risk factors associated with stalking, please go to the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center website at https://lnkd.in/ehZEwai. For anyone in a domestic abuse relationship who needs help, there are several resources in Douglas County, including, The Trinity Center, which can be reached at 678-715-1196, and SHAREHouse, which can be reached at 770-949-0626.

  • Earlier this week our office hosted the Georgia State Board of Pardons & Paroles and Georgia Office of Victim Services for Victim Impact Sessions. These sessions allow victims to speak directly to a parole board member and other staff about their case. This information is then reviewed when the defendant has their parole hearing.

The Georgia Parole Board continues to engage crime victims ensuring they have a voice in the parole process. Parole Board Member Joyette Holmes listened to victims in Douglas County and the Georgia Office of Victim Services and the Board's Clemency Division recorded the information to ensure all five parole board members have the information when the offender is considered for parole. The Victim Impact Session allows a registered victim to speak directly to a parole board member. "This is an important service the parole board and our staff are providing to crime victims. It is necessary to provide our crime victims with this platform to provide the board with information about the case and their viewpoint regarding possible parole for the offender. The board reviews this information prior to making a parole decision," said Holmes. "I want to thank District Attorney Dalia Racine for inviting the board and our staff to speak with these victims," added Holmes. Holmes and staff were able to answer all questions the victims had regarding their individual cases as well as provide information to the victims about the parole decision making process.
