Dr. Bronner's is one of dozens of companies that have signed the Global Plastic Treaty to address global plastic pollution. ✨ Ask your favorite companies to sign it: https://lnkd.in/g_Abarq7 ✨ Here are a few of the Global Plastic Treaty demands: 1. Set a legally-binding target to reduce plastic production by at least 75% by 2040 2. Eliminate single-use plastics, starting with the worst offending items (ex. plastic bags) 3. Ensure a just & inclusive transition to a low-carbon, zero-waste, reuse-based economy 4. Prioritize a human-rights based approach that reduces inequality, prioritizes human health, and centers justice in its creation & implementation

Today is our beloved late Jim Bronner's birthday. ❤️🌻🌈⁣ ⁣ He was Dr. Bronner's youngest son, and father to our president and CEO, Mike & David Bronner.⁣ ⁣ Here are just a few of the magical things Jim did while he was alive:⁣ ⁣ • Helped bring Dr. Bronner's back from bankruptcy in the early '90s⁣ ⁣ • Introduced zero-deductible healthcare for all employees & their families⁣ ⁣ • Introduced our profit-sharing plan for qualified employees. Today, Dr. Bronner's contributes up to 10% of employees' earnings on their behalf — it doesn't come out of their paychecks.⁣ ⁣ • When instructed to sell an inherited $1.4 million parcel of land to pay down taxes, Jim donated the land to the Boys and Girls Club to create a campground for disadvantaged kids⁣ ⁣ • Inspired Dr. Bronner's Magic Foam Experience. He invented "SnoFoam" (Dr. Bronner's soap & compressed air), which we use to create magical snowy wonderlands for disadvantaged youth in our community, and at mud-runs, music festivals, pride parades & more⁣ ⁣ Although Jim passed away more than 25 years ago, he laid the groundwork for Dr. Bronner's to successfully blossom into the company we are today.⁣ ⁣ More than that, his lessons of love & compassion live on in us: Stand up for the little guy. Speak truthfully. Take a step toward your fears. Learn from everyone. Let your responsibility for others ground you. Eat last. ⁣ Happy birthday, Jim! ⁣

Long ago, before Dr. Bronner's committed to sourcing all major raw materials from organic & fair trade sources, we purchased our ingredients from brokers with no visibility into the social & ecological conditions of the farmers, workers, and land these ingredients came from. "That's the reality of what most manufacturers do: you just buy it on price and spec, and you don't care where it's coming from. But that's feeding this race to the bottom around the world," says David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner's. "Corporations go to countries where the environmental & labor standards are most lax, and the cost of production is lowest, and [they're] ripping ecosystems apart." So in 2005, Dr. Bronner's committed to sourcing all major raw materials from organic & fair trade sources — prioritizing direct trading relationships with suppliers, fair pricing, sustainable farming practices, and support for community development projects. "As a soap company, what we do at our headquarters — making soap with solar power, and ecological manufacturing processes, and fair wages — that's all really great, but that's less than 5% of the impact that we have on the planet. Most of the impact that we have — and every other company has that sells food or any other agricultural product — is in the agricultural supply chain where there's like 10, 100 times more workers and farmers and people involved, and the land base is much more massive," says David Bronner. Big thanks to Whole Foods Market for sharing our commitment to regenerative organic agriculture! Read the story here: https://lnkd.in/gk7ZAvwg
