  • Brain games help with anxiety by distracting the mind, which reduces the amygdala's activity.  During stressful times, the amygdala becomes highly active, which can impair our ability to think clearly. Engaging in brain games uses our working memory, prompting the thinking part of our brain (prefrontal cortex) to focus. This shift in focus from fear to logic helps to calm our anxiety.  Techniques like the havening touch add to this calming effect by soothing the amygdala, making us feel more relaxed and less anxious overall. 💡 Follow Dr. Kate Truitt for daily content about mental health, psychology, and neuroscience.
