There is an urgent need to support language rich environments for young deaf and hard of hearing children who are falling behind in language. The percentage of deaf children birth through five meeting age expectations decreased by 4% from fall to spring, a pattern indicative of falling farther behind on language benchmarks. This pattern of decline from fall to spring occurs in both deaf infants and toddlers and deaf children three to five. We do not see this same decline from fall to spring for hard of hearing children or all other children birth to 5 with IFSPs and IEPs. This trend indicates that not all deaf children have access to language-rich social and education environments necessary to support their language acquisition and development. Promoting positive outcomes for young children with disabilities in California through a high-quality assessment system.
About us
The Desired Results Access Project promotes positive child outcomes for all children by supporting early intervention and early childhood special education to implement the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) and link DRDP assessment information to high quality instruction. The Project’s activities include: - participating in the core DRDP development team and conducting research to ensure that the DRDP remains appropriate for all children birth to 5 - collecting and securing 90,000 assessments each year in a longitudinal data system through DR Access Data - training and tracking completion of courses by special education DRDP assessors through DR Access Learn - producing the federal report for the California Department of Education, Special Education Division’s State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR) for Indicator 7: preschool child outcomes - delivering data metrics and guidance at the state and local level, including: - - SPP/APR Indicator 7 results from the Indicator 7 Reports for LEAs website, - - on-demand reports of DRDP results for practitioners and administrators from DR Access Reports, - - and data exploration events for LEAs (Local Education Agencies) to engage in deeper discussions about their preschool child outcomes data and the relationship between the DRDP and SPP/APR Indicator 7 outcomes. The Desired Results Access Project applies implementation science principles to install, sustain, and scale-up cohesive professional development that promotes early childhood special education teachers’ use of evidence-based, recommended practices with all children in inclusive preschool settings. Initiatives include: Statewide Implementation Coach Cadre, Statewide Higher Education Cadre Pilot, Practice-Based Coaching (PBC), Embedded Instruction California (EICA), Pyramid Model for Supporting Social-Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children.

Check out this useful resource about building assessment systems that support all learners: https://lnkd.in/gs66YzmY The Center on Inclusive Technology and Education Systems provides a framework that offers districts a step-by-step process for identifying and removing systemic barriers to the implementation of inclusive technology. The framework includes a section on assessment in inclusive technology systems that details 5 key practices to ensure that assessment systems support all learners. The DR Access project supports inclusive assessment through use of authentic assessment and adaptations, family participation, and the use of assessment data for decision making. #assessment #inclusion #InclusivePractices

DRDP Timeline for Early Intervention and Special Education Download PDF of Postcard: https://lnkd.in/ebQwS2JF Get Started: - Identify eligible children to assess. - - Any infant or toddler receiving services from an LEA with a signed IFSP and receiving special education services must be assessed. - - Any child enrolled in preschool, TK, or K who is 3, 4, or 5-years old, has a signed IEP, and is receiving special education services must be assessed. - - If the child turns 6 at any point during the school year (July 1 through June 30), the DRDP is not required in either the fall or spring assessment periods. - - Children must begin special education services before November 1 for the fall assessment and before April 1 for the spring assessment. - Check with your administrator about when and where to submit your Rating Records. Complete the DRDP for Each Eligible Child: - The assessment should be initiated within the first 60 calendar days of services. - Observe & document children's skills on the DRDP measures throughout the fall and spring. - In the six-week period before your SELPA's fall and spring deadlines, focus on the measures for which you do not have sufficient observations and documentation. Observations should be current with a child's skills. - Complete an Information Page/Rating Record for each eligible child. Produce Reports of Results: - Using SEIS or SIRAS? Once you input your DRDP data in the IFSP/IEP your DRDP results will automatically transfer nightly to DRAccessReports.orgif you enter your Reports account email while entering records. - Produce DRDP reports for children at any time to plan instruction; inform goals, outcomes, and learning targets; share with families; and track progress. #DRDP #Assessment #EarlyChildhoodEducation #SpecialEducation #ChildrenWithDisabilities #EarlyIntervention #Inclusion #InclusivePreschool #IEP #IFSP #Infants #Toddlers #Preschool #TransitionalKindergarten #Kindergarten
