I LOVE meeting new people and I REALLY love meeting new people that are kindred spirits and passionate about the work that we do! When I met Tatia Dugger, CSA, RN, CADDCT, CDP from @CarePatrol Fox Valley West over zoom and later over brunch, I knew that we could make a power pack if we collaborated so I'm so thrilled to announce that our working relationship is official! As with other formal relationships, I will continue to do my individual consultation work and if ever there is a time where someone wants a bit more hand-holding or to give a second opinion of a senior housing community or memory care, I call on the local expert who is on top of who has vacancy, who is running specials, who is missing a leadership team member, who has been in the news for good or bad reasons, etc. I take very seriously who I associate my business with so when I hitch my wagon to a business like Care Patrol Fox Valley, you know I've done my research! I'm so excited to see what we can do together in those far west suburbs! #farmcounty #farmersdaughter #dementiasupportforall

We are one day late in posting this but the sentiments are the same. People over the age of 65 enjoy being stereotyped just as much as you do. There is no better rule of thumb in working with older adults than the golden rule, Matthew (7:12): “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. . . .”

I'm growing a deep concern lately that when memory care communities tell you they are "shorted staffed" that seems to be the end of the conversation as if it is the answer or reason to inadequate care. This just can not be permitted. Thankfully there are communities where the leadership team fully understands that if their community is "short staffed" that means the leadership team steps in and forward, and does not go home at 5:00. Looking for a memory care community that is doing exceptional care? Look for the servant leaders! Those are the communities that truly understand that their first priority is the very best care for your loved one!
