20,000+ on-demand drivers. 1.4M vehicles delivered a year (and growing): Federico Ranero explains how he's building the "Uber for car deliveries." I recently spoke to Fede, the CEO of Draiver, about managing this massive delivery network, the # 1 reason why customers skip vehicle service, A.I. optimization, and much more. Top lessons learned from Fede: Vehicle delivery can be complicated. — Lack of delivery tracking and delays directly impact dealers’ ability to process vehicles. — Even small factors like route deviations make a big affect on speed. — Dealers and customers want to know where the vehicle is every step of the way. A.I. evolution. — With a “bird’s eye view” of the entire vehicle distribution process, A.I. can fill in gaps left by normal delivery systems. — Dealers can track vehicles more accurately and gain deeper insight into their operations. — Transparent tracking keeps dealership customers informed and builds trust. — A.I. can also be used to optimize routes for drivers. Room for improvement. — Even some of the largest rental car operators in the world spend up to 5 days servicing a vehicle – 4 of those days are spent looking for and scheduling driver transport. — But when on-demand drivers and A.I. are deployed at scale, the distribution cycle drops to a few hours. Dealership pick-up and drop-off. — A dealer’s primary goal is to save the customer time. Offering pick-up and drop-off services does just that. — Pick-up and drop-off can boost service ROI by as much as 40%. — The number one reason customers delay service is because their dealership is too far away. Last-mile deliveries. — Vehicles are typically transported by train to individual cities and then shipped to delivery hubs – a time-consuming trip. — Using trucks for this last stage of the journey can also be slow and expensive. — Yet, drivers who take the car straight from the train station to the delivery center save meaningful time and money.
