FROM THE ARCHIVES: Last week was the US Navy 's 249th birthday! Draper is lucky to have a long history with the U.S. Navy which goes back to WWII. Draper was responsible for the Mark 14 Gunsight, used during WWII on British and American battleships with over 85,000 installed! This device enabled gunners to be more accurate in shooting down enemy planes. The concept was originally called DOC's SHOEBOX. https://lnkd.in/eKWsUfMY

Recently, Draper formally celebrated the opening of its new Utah campus in Clearfield—a significant milestone that strengthens our connection to our key customers including the U.S. Air Force. Draper's legacy with the Air Force and Navy spans decades, having played a pivotal role in developing the guidance systems for every ballistic missile program in both branches since their inception. We also have a deep-rooted legacy in space, dating back to the Apollo program. Looking ahead, Draper is focused on addressing emerging national security challenges. Alla Gimbel (Epshteyn), Division Director of Bioengineering at Draper, will be on the Bio+Defense: Commercializing Biotech Panel at the sold out 47G #ZeroGravitySummit tomorrow in SLC, UT. Draper recently opened an office in this location to better serve our customers. We are excited to be a part of this summit on national security and frontier technology. We strive to create technological solutions that help prepare for and respond to biothreats. The team also works to develop medical devices for warfighter and civilian populations. 🌟 Thrilled to Engage with the Next Generation of Innovators at Lipscomb University! 🌟 This past week, I had the privilege of presenting "Beyond Chip Wars: Forging a Future Career Microelectronics" to over 120 talented students at the Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm for the future of microelectronics and national security technologies, and I had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic future leaders in the field. A big thank you to Erin Ferree from the College’s Office of Professional Development for helping organize such a successful event, and to the faculty who made it all possible. The discussions with faculty have opened doors to potential partnerships that could help shape the next wave of microelectronics talent and innovation. As we continue to fulfill Draper's mission in workforce development, I’m excited about how events like these contribute to diversifying the talent base and promoting secure, assured microelectronics.
