On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the perseverance and courage of Indigenous peoples, show our gratitude for the myriad contributions they have made to our world, and renew our commitment to respect Tribal sovereignty and self-determination.      The story of America’s Indigenous peoples is a story of their resilience and survival; of their persistent commitment to their right to self-governance; and of their determination to preserve cultures, identities, and ways of life. (Source: The White House, A Proclamation on Indigenous Peoples’ Day.)        Today, Indigenous People’s Day, observed in the US on the second Monday in October, invites reflection on “the discovery of the Americas” and its lasting impact, particularly on Indigenous peoples. While many enjoy the long weekend with family, it’s crucial to recognize the complexities of this day.      Countries around the world commemorate this in various ways—Discovery Day in the Bahamas and Colombia, Día de la Resistencia Indígena in Venezuela, Fiesta Nacional in Spain, and Día de la Raza in many Latin American countries honor the rich tapestry of Hispanic culture.      At Dress for Success, we believe in empowering all voices and stories. Join us today in celebrating of Indigenous People, diversity and advocating for change throughout the world.    #IndigenousPeoplesDay #CulturalAwareness #DressforSuccess

  • World Mental Health Day is an international day designed to bring much needed attention to global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy, and to help combat social stigma. It was first celebrated on October 10, 1992. In 1994, the day began to highlight and promote a specific theme, and this year’s theme places the spotlight on mental health in the workplace. Here are a few ways we can positively break the stigma and create positive change in our workspaces: ➡️Provide Information on Benefits: Ensure employees are aware of available mental health services, like Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), counseling, or wellness apps. ➡️Lead by Example: Have leaders and managers openly discuss mental health, share their experiences, and promote a stigma-free environment. ➡️Paid Mental Health Days: Give employees time off specifically dedicated to mental health and self-care, allowing them to recharge without guilt. At Dress for Success, we support the notion that mental wellbeing is as important as professional success. Together, we can create an empowering environment where every woman has the support, she needs to thrive both personally and professionally. #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #EmpoweredWomen
