Congratulations to our project team at California State University, Chico's new University Services Building (USB) for topping out! The USB will be the first mass timber structure built in the California State University system. The two-story, 22,132-square-foot building will house the Facilities Management and Services, Environmental Health and Safety, and Risk Management departments. The mass timber system reduces the project’s carbon footprint while providing structural support and retaining its natural interior finish. Other resource-saving features include daylit workspaces and interior layout flexibility. Yesterday, the D+B team took a trip up to Chico to visit the job site for the new University Services Building currently being constructed on the Chico State campus. It is a very exciting moment for D+B seeing the timber being placed. This project is D+B's first mass timber project, and we are thrilled to pave the way for the first mass timber project at Chico State and the entire CSU system.
