This week, DSR Lead Software Engineers, Renata Toktar, and António Neto, organized and led a dynamic training session on Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and Blockchain at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). The event was part of an ongoing collaboration between DSR and JuniFEUP, a student organization dedicated to enhancing educational experiences for future engineers. During the session, students were introduced to the principles of SSI, exploring how it can enhance privacy and security in digital environments. Renata provided real-world examples, while discussions highlighted the critical relationship between SSI and Blockchain technology. Through interactive participation, attendees gained valuable insights into how these technologies intersect and can shape various industries. This event was a milestone, bringing one of the most important gatherings of embedded systems professionals and industry leaders to the U.S. for the first time. DSR's Dan Repich returned with key insights from the show, offering valuable updates for those who couldn’t attend. It was inspiring to see the breadth and depth of cutting-edge embedded technologies on display, from firmware security and binary encryption, to fanless miniPCs for industrial applications. Specialized solutions were also presented such as precise testing and measurement equipment and application-specific tech like fault-tolerant firmware for NASCAR and aircraft systems. Matter generated significant curiosity at the show, with many attendees seeking to understand its value and where its trending in the market. Throughout the conference, exhibitors and attendees alike were actively exchanging ideas, fostering a collaborative environment.
