  • Order the office party cake!!  🎂 Champagne toast on the company pontoon boat!! 🥂 We were named one of Washington’s Best Workplaces in the Puget Sound Business Journal. Ranked #4 of the only 100 companies that made the list, peek behind the scenes to find out why with an inside look. Here’s a quote from our shoutout in the Puget Sound Business Journal:   “This has been the best place I have ever worked. Management strives to employ individuals from all types of different backgrounds. It is a law firm that works collaboratively rather than competitively, which differs from many firms in the area. DLLG has always been supportive and willing to accommodate any of my life endeavors. An environment like this would be hard to ever replace.”

  • To show appreciation for the daily sacrifices of firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders; two of our attorneys, Jordyn Sifferman and Karamvir Dhaliwal, recently volunteered for the annual Washington First Responder Will Clinic (WFRWC). The annual event which provides free wills, healthcare directives, and general durable powers of attorney to eligible Washington first responders and their spouses/state-registered domestic partners, welcomed more than 60 participates to the free workshop.  It was Karamvir’s first-time volunteering for the organization and the second time for Jordyn, who agreed it was a positive and uplifting experience.    “The firefighters and their families were so fun to work with, and it was clear this is a service that was much needed as many of them expressed they have been thinking about and meaning to get wills made for years now and they expressed the relief it feels to finally have that done,” shared Karamvir.   Jordyn added, “The clients I worked with were so grateful to have an attorney to help them draft these important documents protecting their families. They also expressed wanting to put together a will for years and feeling incredibly grateful and relieved to finally have it done.”   To learn more, visit www.willclinic.org.

Today, on Indigenous People's Day, we celebrate the rich cultures and traditions of Indigenous peoples. DLLG Controller, Shawna Davies recently shared a story with our team about her birth star blanket which prompted us to learn more about her heritage. Her father was a Yankton Sioux American Indian and though he was born and raised in Nebraska, his roots were in Lake Andes, SD, where Shawna’s grandmother was raised and returned with Shawna’s grandfather, later in life. Shawna’s life was shaped by many of the same traditions and values of the Yankton Sioux Indian tribe. One of Shawna’s fondest memories is of her father making Indian fry bread without a recipe—just a sprinkle of this and a dash of that. It was a rare treat that brought her family together, and as an adult, she finally asked him for the recipe. Now, she’s proud to say she’s passed this tradition on to her kids, with her son continuing the legacy of making fry bread. Another beautiful tradition of Native American culture is the is the significance of birth star blankets, which are used in a variety of ways, from ceremonies and graduations to births and deaths. Shawna received one when she got married and is displaying her son’s blanket, pictured in the above photo. “These blankets are more than just fabric; they symbolize love, protection, and connection to our heritage. Traditionally gifted to newborns, birth star blankets represent the journey of life and the support of family and community. Each stitch weaves in stories, hopes, and dreams for the child. I received my own star blanket when I got married, reminding me of the strength and love that surrounds us.” As we honor this day, let’s continue to uplift and celebrate Indigenous voices and cultures and reflect on the importance of these traditions, the values they instill in our lives and the memories that keep their culture alive. 🧡🌍💫#IndigenousPeoplesDay #BirthStarBlankets #CulturalHeritage #YanktonSioux #FamilyTraditions

  • Not every law firm has a pontoon boat! Our offices are located on the water with expansive views because going through a divorce is tough…and we want our clients to come to meet with their lawyer and catch their breath for just a moment. DuBois Levias is no ordinary law firm. Located on Lake Union in Fremont and also near the Ferry Dock in Edmonds, we’re vibrant, eclectic, and dog friendly. We’ve got workplace perks that go above and beyond the boat dock. #votedbestworkplaces

  • Divorce may be the result of our work, but the ultimate wellbeing of the kids involved is always our end aim. We love to see the way families form healthy new dynamics in the wake of it all. Many of us are in blended families ourselves. So to see step-parenthood in the public spotlight recently in a positive, celebrated way warmed our hearts.   “She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it,” Kerstin Emohoff said about “Momala” recently.   There are many ways to create a family. Even after divorce. We’re here for all of it.

  • We’re a law firm largely made up of women who advocate daily for the rights and wellbeing of children and families. That’s why we’re thrilled to support Kamala Harris in her bid to become our next president.   Not only do Harris’s track record and policy statements show her real-world support for American families, but they contrast the Project 2025 agenda sharply.   Project 2025 talks about repealing the Respect for Marriage Act that guarantees federal recognition of same-sex marriages. For our clients, this means uncertainty and instability. Everyone deserves for their love to be legitimate.   We’re not going back.

  • Officially a “rising star” in the Seattle area legal community, Madeleine DuBois (Maddy to us) was named one of the “Next Gen in Law” in the Puget Sound Business Journal! This award goes to attorneys practicing for 10 years or less.   The publication recognized Maddy for being a passionate and enthusiastic advocate for her family law clients. This dedication roots back to her early childhood adoption.   “Helping parents and their children adapt and evolve to their new family dynamic is really meaningful to me.”   Congrats Maddy! #Washington #PNW #WomenInLaw
