California recently passed legislation that would require browsers to give users a legally binding option to universally opt out of the selling or sharing of their personal information. Tell Gov. Newsom to sign this into law. 👇

"Hello [to] a world where Google isn’t a verb anymore, as a result of all its many self-inflicted errors," says Andy Meek. "...Gen Z is the first digitally native generation, a generation that was also the focus of a new Bernstein Research study published in recent days. And that generation’s 'de-verbing' of Google matters, because for them? It’s a reflection of the fact that Google is simply no longer the useful one-stop-shop for information that it was in the good old day."
To Gen Z, Google is just a relic - not a verb anymore

"Data breaches are a seemingly endless scourge with no simple answer, but the breach in recent months of the background-check service National Public Data illustrates just how dangerous and intractable they have become," warns Lily Hay Newman.

🔸U.S. Judge Rules Google's Monopoly is Illegal🔸 Statement on the U.S. v. Google ruling: Judge Amit Mehta issued an historic ruling today saying in no uncertain terms: "Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly." Google has used its monopoly power to block meaningful competition in the search market by putting a stranglehold on major distribution points for more than a decade. So even though DuckDuckGo provides something valuable that people want and Google won't provide — real privacy protection online — Google makes it difficult to use DuckDuckGo by default. We applaud this landmark decision and the important work of the Department of Justice and state Attorneys General to enforce our antitrust laws. The journey ahead will be long. As we are seeing in the EU and other places, Google will do anything it can to avoid changing its conduct. However, we know there is a pent up demand for alternatives in search and this ruling will support access to more options.
