Today is International Day of Sign Languages, an opportunity to show support to deaf people and other sign language users around the world. Our Disabilities and Accessibility Alliance #ERG shared the following facts: Did you know? 🤔 🌎There are more than 70 million deaf people worldwide who collectively use over 300 sign languages! 🇺🇸 American Sign Language (ASL) is the dominant sign language in the U.S. It is used by over 1 million people. 🦻International Day of Sign Languages is celebrated on September 23rd. The day commemorates the 1951 establishment of the World Federation of the Deaf. The WFD is an international foundation representing 135 national associations of deaf people worldwide.

Safety Champion Spotlight 🌟 Environment, Health, and Safety Manager Gonzalo Llamas has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of our safety team. ⛑️ Just three months after Gonzalo was hired, the pandemic began and he developed and implemented a comprehensive pandemic response program. He also created Safety Week, an annual firmwide event comprised of educational programming and training on various safety topics. 🗨️ Gonzalo said "I've always been people-centric." Having previously worked in the ER, he is passionate about taking care of people and supporting them through difficult times. 🤝 Empathy and building connections with people are critical for keeping our firm safe. Gonzalo says, "The more you connect with people, the better the support you'll be able to provide, which results in a better outcome." 🏅Gonzalo was recently named runner-up for the Young Safety Professional Excellence Award, which recognized his pivotal role in expanding the functions of our EHS team. 🦺 What's next for Gonzalo? He looks forward to continuing to assist with the strategic vision for the EHS team and develop programs that empower employees to lead a culture of safety Dudek.
