Dunaway recently celebrated a milestone event at the groundbreaking ceremony for Staybolt Street, a significant new development in Mansfield, Texas. As part of a 100-acre master-planned entertainment district spearheaded by the City of Mansfield, Texas Municipal Government, Dunaway has played a key role in the development by providing #civil engineering, #surveying, #landscapearchitecture, and #traffic study services for the public infrastructure components, which will support a variety of facilities, including a soccer stadium complex, convention center, hotel, urban multi-family residential units, and entertainment venues within the Staybolt Street district. Dunaway looks forward to the continued progress and development of this exciting project, and it's impact on the community!

Members from Dunaway were delighted to attend the topping out of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau last week! Dunaway provided #civilengineering and #surveying services for the Fort Worth Convention Center, including the straightening and design of Commerce Street in downtown City of Fort Worth. The project features patterned and colored concrete paving to tie in the theming of the FWCC aesthetics, and brick paver sidewalks for enhanced hardscaping – resulting in a plaza-like feel. The project involved two phases of design, including private and public improvements featuring a pedestrian hybrid beacon designed for the safe crossing of Commerce Street, with consideration that the crossing location could transition to a future intersection controlled by stoplights, in addition to a drainage and water/sanitary sewer study to determine if the existing capacity was sufficient and additional options for stormwater routing. We look forward to seeing the continued progress made on this exciting project! Congratulations to all involved!

We’re proud to share that Dunaway’s own Business Development Director and Associate Principal, Roberta Salas, is now a board member of the Hays Education Foundation! In her role, she will be responsible for helping raise funds that will go back to the school district to support various educational programs, professional development, and resources for schools and teachers. We look forward to seeing the impact that she and all board members make in bringing the Hays Education Foundation's mission to life!

Happy #ProfessionalEngineersDay! Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, PE Day is a day to shine a spotlight on what it means to be a Professional Engineer and the work they do in our communities each and every day.

Recently, Members from Dunaway’s City of San Antonio office attended the grand opening of the McMullen County Veteran’s Memorial. Located in Tilden, Texas, the Memorial includes monuments for each military branch and name plaques honoring those of McMullen County who served in the Armed Forces. The Veterans Memorial design also consisted of accent lighting, paving enhancements, and security cameras to keep the site safe at all hours. Located adjacent to McMullen County Park, the design also focused on tying into this community park, which will serve the needs of the community's residents. Congratulations to all involved on this special project!

Congratulations to Bowie House, Auberge Resorts Collection on being named one of the World’s Greatest Places for 2024 by TIME magazine! Dunaway partnered with BOKA Powell to provide planning + landscape architecture, civil and structural engineering, and surveying services at Bowie House Hotel. Recognized by TIME for its transcendent ability to blend Texas charm with modern style, the magazine also acknowledges the City the hotel resides in – stating that the City of Fort Worth is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. As the Project Manager on the project, Ky Stephens, PLA, ASLA, explains, “We are proud of how our collective team of planners, engineers, and Landscape Architects wove together the intricate layers of design and infrastructure to create an elegant, one-of-a-kind venue which honors our client’s vision and the spirit of Fort Worth." Congratulations to all involved!

Recently, Dunaway's North Texas team members packaged meals for Rise Against Hunger, a growing global movement whose mission is to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives, and responding to emergencies. Led by our #GoodWorksCommittee, this is an annual event that volunteers look forward to participating in each summer!

This week marks two exciting occasions – National Zookeeper Week and National Intern Day. What better way to honor both than to share our North Texas Intern's adventure at the Fort Worth Zoo? Dunaway has proudly provided civil engineering, structural engineering, planning + landscape architecture, and surveying services to the Fort Worth Zoo since 1999! Each Summer, we enjoy letting our North Texas interns into the wild to experience the zoo for themselves! 🐘 #HappyNationalInternDay

In our latest insight, "Designing for the Future: How Structural Engineering Supports Architectural Design," we sit down with Engagement Manager and Principal, Sarah Willis, P.E., to learn more about a brand-new middle school in the City of Hutto and how Dunaway’s structural engineering team was able to blend functionality with aesthetics – resulting in a feeling of 𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢 for all who enter. Coined by the Harvard naturalist Dr. Edward O. Wilson, the term '𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢' describes humanity’s “innate instinct to connect with nature and other living beings.” Thanks in part to out-of-the-box thinking, the natural elements featured in Hutto ISD's newest middle school do more than provide structural support – they helped bring VLK Architects vision to life.
