The solution to end homelessness.
About us
At DuPagePads, our mission is to end homelessness in DuPage County and we believe we have the solution: housing coupled with support services and employment. Recognizing 30 years of service, DuPagePads has assisted more than 28,000 people, provided nearly 700,000 nights of shelter and over 2,000,000 meals. As the largest and only non-restrictive shelter in the community, DuPagePads is essential to those who are homeless in DuPage County, Illinois. Operating 365 nights a year throughout the county, we first address the basic need for food and shelter, then provide comprehensive support services and Career Employment Solutions to address their individual barriers to return to a place to call “home.” Thank you for joining us and believing in our mission to end homelessness. We know… When someone believes in you, everything can change. Every journey to stable housing looks different. Today on #HighFiveFriday we are celebrating a client who is overcoming her fears. Debra was having extreme difficulty transitioning from the Interim Housing Center into a home of her own. Many of our clients find such comfort, community, and stability at the IHC that it can be overwhelming to be completely on their own again. Debra recognized her need for therapy to get to the root of the issue of her loneliness and fear and began therapy three times a week. Debra is also considering an emotional support animal to combat her loneliness! We are so proud of her dedication to working on her mental health while going through this huge life change.

It’s #ThankfulThursday, and today we are incredibly happy to thank our friends at Meijer in Bolingbrook for selecting DuPagePads to be the recipient of their most recent Meijer Team Gives gift. The generous $5,000 donation is enough to celebrate, but this award is even more special to us because the employee who nominated us is also a DuPagePads client! Thank you to our client and to the whole team. Your support will make such a difference in the lives of many.

Can you help spread warmth and comfort this week? We are preparing for the colder temperatures and on #WishListWednesday we are hoping our community can help with some most-needed items. We are asking for donations of hearty canned soups and laundry pods for Street Outreach clients who do their laundry at the Access Center. A nourishing meal and the dignity of clean clothes can make a world of difference to someone in need. You can order directly from our Amazon Wishlist for delivery straight to our door. Thank you for your kindness and generosity! https://lnkd.in/gNRufj9S

On #HighFiveFriday, join us in celebrating one client whose story teaches us to never give up! Despite being removed from our program previously, Jose did not let that define him or his potential for growth. Jose is now back in our Supportive Housing program and his case manager reports he has been doing great, determined to focus on his health and well-being, including attending therapy twice a month. He is searching for a part-time job and working towards being able to afford a car on his own. Jose reminds us that everyone is deserving of support as they navigate their path to a better future!

This #ThankfulThursday we are showing gratitude to our friends at TruStage who dedicated the last day of their business conference to learning about our mission and making a meaningful impact in our community. Their generous donation and assembly of snacks, waters, and treats has provided much-needed nourishment and joy to the guests staying at the IHC. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support!

This #WishlistWednesday, can you help the individuals and families staying at the IHC tonight with one or more of our most-needed items? Purchasing from our Amazon Wishlist allows for delivery straight to our door. Thank you for helping us to end homelessness in DuPage County! https://lnkd.in/gNRufj9S

Our organization is centered on ending homelessness, and this Indigenous Peoples’ Day we are mindful of the unique challenges that Indigenous communities face, including homelessness. Indigenous people in America experience homelessness at disproportionately higher rates compared to other groups, a consequence of historical and systemic injustices. For many Indigenous individuals, homelessness is not just a lack of physical shelter but a disconnection from their cultural and community ties. Supporting Indigenous-led initiatives and housing programs across the nation represents a meaningful step towards addressing these challenges. Today, we elevate the powerful work being accomplished at Chief Seattle Club to ensure a world without homelessness. https://lnkd.in/ggRbz7-v

Today’s #HighFiveFriday is dedicated to our friend, the amazing DuPage County staff member, Lisa Snipes. Help us commend her for her incredible tenacity as the lead of the DuPage County Continuum of Care, fighting for more funding for survivors of domestic violence in our community. For the past 7 months, Lisa has been fighting tirelessly to get national funds back into our county. Thanks to Lisa, and her persistence, 7 more households will have a safe apartment of their own after living in fear and violence. Her efforts will save lives. We are truly grateful to her and hope you will join us in a round of applause for her efforts!
