I hired my first employee 10 years ago. Here's what I learned since. The best people often: ↳ Don't have the most experience. ↳ Don't have the top resumes. ↳ Aren't the best interviewers. But, what I care about more are: ↳ Problem-solving skills. ↳ A desire to learn and grow. ↳ Genuine care towards others. Many candidates have: ↳ Dynamic personalities. ↳ Impressive achievements. ↳ Directly relevant experience. But I always ask myself these questions: • Can I trust this person? • Do they share our values? • Will they fit in with the team? And, can I give them what they need? → Opportunities for career growth. → Necessary training to bridge gaps. → Work arrangements, hours and benefits. The fit needs to be mutual.
