#Veterans excel at achieving the mission, it is ingrained in every one of us. Every mission we head into the unknown; territory, vehicle position, role in the squad, or receipt of an oporder. Additionally, many of us had 4+ years to master the 10 core competencies within the Durable Skill framework necessary to achieve any mission, i.e.: communication, fortitude, creativity, and collaboration. Lastly, #LinkedIn's 2023 Veteran Opportunity Report cites veterans on average master 8 out of 10 competencies! This is why veterans excel in #startups and in #ITcareers. TBT, thirty years ago I was an enlisted soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division and had the opportunity to meet my best friend, the M-60. The last time I had used one was years prior in Basic Training. The mission called for me to become an expert in the weapon, and over time I did. We jumped together. Slept together. Heck, even worked out together. Like all members of the armed services, we adapt, overcome, master new skills, and achieve the mission. The time is now, to reach out to a veteran. -- Ask them how they are doing. -- Ask them about the type of career they want to pursue. -- Ask them if they need assistance in pursuing a new career. Do it today!

“Veterans with degrees may be at a disadvantage because of their military service, more so than someone with no work experience at all.” This is unacceptable. According to a recent LinkedIn Veteran Opportunity Report, veterans with bachelor’s degrees “enter the corporate workforce with 2.9x more total work experience” than nonveterans with the same level of education. And yet, they’re not being paid the same as nonveterans. Believe it or not, most veterans take a step down in seniority when they are onboarding. This is because they are more than qualified for the job. Veterans are just looking for work that gives them opportunities for growth, longevity, and success–just like the rest of us. They are our leaders throughout our communities, and yet, they struggle to be taken seriously in the workforce. It’s our responsibility to step up and fix the wage gap between civilians and veterans. It’s our job to connect vets to meaningful employment opportunities. Their sacrifices have created our opportunities. We need to change the way we view vets. We are not walking PTSD cases with a penchant for fighting. Veterans are assets, victims. We are not broken. There is still work to be done. Are you interested in starting a veteran hiring program? Talk to us at EagleCorps. Let’s create a change. #hireaveteran, #hirevets, #staffaugmentation, #techcareers, #rtd
