Independent magazine devoted to early learning. An initiative of the Bezos Family Foundation.
About us
Early Learning Nation is an independent magazine devoted to early learning (0-5 years), reporting on groundbreaking research, early learning policy and best practices in the field. Our mission Early Learning Nation magazine creates journalism from, and for, the early learning field. Our journalists have unique access and insights to the challenges and successes of all-things-early-childhood, and we publish stories that support policymakers, researchers, scientists, advocates and families in creating equitable and groundbreaking work in their communities and lives. With the shuttering of independent news providers over the last five years, and the loss of so many education and early childhood beats in the outlets that do remain, our communities are hungry for information—and connection. Early Learning Nation magazine publishes work from all over this complex landscape, including: * Groundbreaking research from the science of the developing brain * Case studies in policy and advocacy that demonstrate winning strategies * Interviews and deep dives with authors, practitioners and innovators And so much more. You can follow along with our work by signing up for our monthly newsletter, joining us on Substack, following us on LinkedIn and other social media, or viewing our interviews from our pop-up Early Learning Nation Studio on our YouTube channel. We’re glad you’re here.

"All of these anti-family policies—no paid leave, costly health care, and lack of child care—have contributed to the unique stress of being a parent in America. The White House is spot on to want to address this ongoing maternal health crisis, an initiative they unveiled in 2022 which has now seen some positive results." https://lnkd.in/eXFWTgDC

Early Learning Nation reposted this
We loved this Q&A from Early Learning Nation on the ways the expanded Child Tax Credit massively cut child poverty during the pandemic, and demonstrated the power of family-led advocacy. “If you go back to the Great Society and Head Start, you see a central role for parents, but then for decades, a lot of leaders in the early childhood community became less focused on it. The conventional wisdom has been it’s hard to organize parents. But this is now happening on an impressive scale,” said Olivia Golden, a senior policy advisor at the Foundation for Child Development. https://lnkd.in/eeHxGbwm #childtaxcredit #parents #earlychildhood
