A key part of the Clean Water Act provided grants for communities to construct wastewater treatment facilities. Fifty-two years later, there’s still work to do to Close America’s Wastewater Access Gap. ERG supports the U.S. EPA by providing no-cost technical assistance to low-income, Tribal, and other overburdened communities with failing septic systems or without any existing wastewater infrastructure. Inadequate and failing wastewater infrastructure poses direct health risks and threatens to pollute waterways. These communities have historically struggled to qualify for funding and afford many of the solutions that would address their wastewater infrastructure needs. As part of this initiative, the project team engages with the community, ensuring we are supporting their project, hearing their needs, and crafting a solution that they want and can afford. Our team visits each community, works with them to develop preliminary engineering plans and reports, and helps the community pursue federal funding opportunities. Every community faces their own unique challenges, and our mission is to provide a long-term, sustainable wastewater treatment solution that works for the community. The Clean Water Act transformed the health of our nation’s waters through regulations, but ensuring compliance and accountability are key when protecting our water resources. ERG’s credentialed inspectors help ensure clean and safe water throughout the country by evaluating compliance with Clean Water Act requirements. We work with State, Tribal, and Federal regulatory agencies to evaluate sanitary sewer systems, wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, municipal stormwater management programs, and more. Our team takes pride in applying our real-world experience and extensive, detailed knowledge of water quality programs to help make a difference in protecting public health and the environment. The Clean Water Act was enacted after public outrage when the Cuyahoga River in Ohio caught fire due to pollution. Fifty-two years later, ERG continues to support the intent of the Act by preserving and protecting water quality. Our scientists perform #WaterQualityMonitoring across the U.S. to help assess the health and ecological integrity of our aquatic ecosystems. We specialize in aquatic sampling and monitoring, fish and macroinvertebrate sampling, wetlands assessments, Waters of the U.S. jurisdictional determinations, field surveys, and biotic assessments and evaluations. The data that we help collect is critical for assessing current conditions and establishing a foundation for subsequent environmental protection efforts to ensure clean water and healthy aquatic habitats now and into the future. We were proud to support the EPA’s recently released National Aquatic Resource Survey, which details the health of our rivers, streams, wetlands, and lakes: https://lnkd.in/diiD5rrn

Alongside the California Air Resources Board, ERG is tackling air quality issues in Imperial County, CA, where pollution from Mexico plays a major role. Our team reviewed the 2014 Mexico National Emissions Inventory and collected on-the-ground data in Mexicali to enhance cross-border air quality analysis. Using advanced tech like remote sensing, we identified high-emitting vehicles as key pollution contributors. This work equips CARB with the insights to develop informed air quality strategies that benefit the U.S. and Mexico. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eJTmbRbe
