Now is a great time to take advantage of our free consultations!

I love offering free speech therapy consultations. They are equal parts helpful to me and to the folks that I meet with. Oftentimes, people know they should pursue speech therapy either for themselves or for their children, but they don’t know where to start.  Especially for parents, there can be a lot of fear around milestones and what to do if their child isn’t quite hitting them. For adults seeking speech therapy for themselves, they may not know exactly how speech therapy can help. For either scenario, free consultations allow me to meet these folks, hear their stories, and better understand the support they need. Because at the end of the day, if EasySLP isn’t a good fit for them I’d rather let them know so they aren’t wasting time. In that case, I’ll refer them elsewhere. And if they are a good fit, then we can quickly get them matched with a speech therapist and have them start online sessions the same week. Super quick and easy! Have you been thinking about speech therapy for yourself or your child? Is your child regressing in their progress during the summer (super common btw!)? Or you’re somewhere in between? Feel free to schedule time with me! I’d love to meet you and help you sort out next steps. 📅 Schedule time with me here: https://lnkd.in/e6EiYqY5  ___________ 👋 I’m Jessica, a Speech Language Pathologist and founder and CEO of EasySLP. 🌟 Why did I start EasySLP? 1️⃣ I wanted to provide parents & caregivers a connection to find a speech therapist quickly. 2️⃣ I wanted to provide an easy to use platform to provide the accessibility for virtual therapy. 3️⃣ I wanted SLPs (who are mostly women) the flexibility of providing quality virtual therapy. I get it- parents are busy. Few people have time to research finding a therapist, and, most times, when you find one there is a waiting list or a schedule conflict. My goal is to take the pain out of the process and provide a service that does everything in one place for you-without having to plan a carpool or choose between soccer practice and speech. This goes for therapists as well. Most SLPs are women, and when given the option of scheduling flexibility, have more bandwidth to provide services to those in need. I am on both sides of this, and through EasySLP I hope to alleviate this very real struggle. ___________ 👋 I’m Jessica, a Speech Language Pathologist and founder and CEO of EasySLP. I often get asked by parents how they can support their child's speech development at home. Here are some practical tips to help foster a rich language environment for your kids 👇 🗣️Talk, Talk, Talk!  Narrate your day and describe what you’re doing. This helps your child hear and learn new words in context. 📚 Read Together Daily Books are a fantastic way to introduce new vocabulary and sentence structures. Make reading interactive by asking questions and encouraging your child to point to pictures. Funny voices and facial expressions are also a good addition! 🎲 Play and Interact  Engage in play that encourages communication. Toys that promote pretend play, like dolls or action figures, can help children practice conversation and storytelling. 🎵 Sing Songs and Nursery Rhymes  Music is really great for language development. Singing slows down language and emphasizes the rhythm and rhyme of words, making it easier for children to learn. Songs are also fun and easy for children to repeat!  🔄  Expand and Recast When your child speaks, expand on what they say. If they say "doggy," you can respond with "Yes, the big doggy is running fast!" This adds complexity and introduces new vocabulary. You can also ask questions about the dog or add more context to what your child is seeing. 📱❌ Limit Screen Time  I understand this one might be tougher than the others! But I highly recommend having more face-to-face interactions. While some educational programs can be beneficial, nothing beats direct human interaction for language learning. Remember, every child develops at their own pace, but if you have concerns about your child’s speech and language skills, early intervention is key. Don’t hesitate to seek advice from a professional!  ___________ 👋 I’m Jessica, a Speech Language Pathologist and founder and CEO of EasySLP. 🐣 Early detection and Early Intervention in speech therapy can make a world of difference for children. But how do you know if a child needs early intervention for their speech and communication? Here are some signs and milestones to look out for 👇 1️⃣ Limited babbling or no words by 12 months 2️⃣ Difficulty following simple instructions 3️⃣ Trouble understanding simple sentences 4️⃣ Lack of eye contact   5️⃣ No single words by 16 months 6️⃣ No phrases by 24 months This isn’t a comprehensive list, so if you’re concerned about a developmental issue, I recommend talking to your pediatrician or reaching out to an SLP about getting a consultation or evaluation. Awareness is the first step! Early intervention can seem scary or intense, but in reality it helps children learn through play (which is great for teaching them both social skills and also making the learning fun) and increase their academic readiness. Early intervention also provides children with the resources and tools they need to prepare them for school and beyond. Questions about early intervention or the process for how to get your child in early intervention? 👉 One of the most common speech therapy myths is that children will outgrow any speech disorders on their own. The truth is that they might outgrow them - or they might not. It’s a gamble.  When it comes to stuttering, for example, about 5-10% of all children will stutter (especially between the ages of 2 and 6). Of that 5-10%, about 75% of these children will outgrow their stutter. That’s great! Except for the other 25% that don’t outgrow it. For those children whose parents take the ‘wait and see’ approach, the possibility that they have their stutter for life becomes more real. On the other hand, early intervention takes a more proactive approach to address speech disorders. These treatments are extremely effective and in some cases can resolve a young child’s speech disorder entirely. As the saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry! If your young child is showing any signs of a speech disorder, I recommend not waiting to see if they will grow out of it. Start exploring options for early intervention speech therapy in your area to at least see what is offered.  There are also plenty of parent-coaching resources and online therapy options out there if the early intervention waitlists are super long (which is unfortunately pretty common). ❓Questions about early intervention or how to access speech therapy services for your child? Message me! I’m happy to help!  _________________ 👋 I’m Jessica, a Speech Language Pathologist and founder and CEO of EasySLP. Also worth noting, a linguistic difference is not a disorder! SLPs are trained to differentiate between the two and as mentioned below, to respect our clients' cultural and linguistic differences

❌ Myth: Speech therapists only work with native speakers The reality is that we work with folks from all kinds of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Whether you’re a non-native speaker or are bilingual, speech therapy is designed to support and enhance communication skills for everyone. Here’s how we do it: 🗣️ Cultural sensitivity: We understand and respect the cultural and linguistic nuances of our clients. This awareness allows us to provide personalized and effective therapy. 🗣️ Bilingual Therapy: For clients who speak multiple languages, we focus on strengthening communication skills in all their languages, not just the dominant one. This helps maintain linguistic diversity and enhances overall language proficiency. 🗣️ Language-Specific Goals: We set goals that are specific to the client's language and communication needs. Whether it’s improving articulation, fluency, or language comprehension, our therapy plans are tailored to individual requirements. 🗣️ Collaborative Approach: We often collaborate with interpreters, family members, and other professionals to ensure a holistic and inclusive approach to therapy. This teamwork ensures that the client’s unique needs are met effectively. I firmly believe that speech therapy is for everyone. Bridging communication gaps is at the core of what SLPs do, regardless of language differences.   Have questions about whether speech therapy is a good option for you or a loved one? An important question with a nuanced answer- see below for more 👇

🤔 How long will it take to see results from speech therapy? This is a question that regularly comes up. While I would love to say “instantly!”, that’s just not the case. Like most things, speech therapy takes time and consistency.  However, I will say that I see faster results from clients who have support from their families and are in close collaboration with their therapist. So what can you expect from speech therapy and progress timelines? 👉 An initial consultation to assess communication needs. This helps us determine the best next steps and treatment plan. Everyone is unique with different strengths, needs, and goals. This is also a major factor in progress timelines. 👉 The nature of the disorder has a major impact on the timeline to see progress. A mild articulation issue will likely be resolved faster than a complex language disorder, for example. 👉 Frequency of sessions is also a significant factor in progress. I realize that not everyone can attend sessions super frequently, but keeping up with a schedule that doesn’t leave too many long gaps between sessions really helps clients see progress faster. 👉 Support at home is something that I’ve seen really help with reaching goals faster. It’s basically practice between sessions to keep the momentum going. A supportive environment with family members also tends to boost progress. 👉 Patient age and motivation factors into progress as well. Younger patients will often adapt quickly, but motivated people of any age can achieve remarkable results! Like everything, the more motivated you are, the higher the likelihood of success. 👉 The presence of co-existing conditions is a big factor to consider when assessing timelines. For example, conditions like autism, hearing loss, or developmental delays can impact the pace of progress. We take this into consideration when developing a speech therapy treatment plan. I always like to remind patients and caregivers that speech therapy is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time, effort, and consistency-but it’s so worth it! Questions about speech therapy or what to realistically expect? Feel free to reach out! 👋 I’m Jessica, a Speech Language Pathologist and founder and CEO of EasySLP. 🎒 “SLPs only work in schools, right?” Wrong!  We’re everywhere!  SLPs work in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and even private practices. If you’re an aspiring SLP or are the parent of a child who might benefit from speech therapy, just know that school settings aren’t the only places where speech therapy happens!  🏥 Hospitals: In this setting, we work with patients of all ages who might have communication or swallowing disorders due to stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurological diseases, etc.  🏘️ Rehabilitation Centers: SLPs in rehab centers focus on helping patients recover and regain their communication and swallowing abilities post-injury or illness. We provide intensive therapy and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive treatment plans. 🏥 Clinics: In clinical settings, SLPs offer outpatient services to individuals with a variety of speech and language disorders. This can include everything from articulation and fluency issues to voice disorders and language delays. We often work with both children and adults in these settings. 🏠 Private Practices: SLPs in private practice have the flexibility to offer specialized services tailored to the needs of their clients. This can include one-on-one therapy, group sessions, or even teletherapy.  Private practices often cater to a broad range of clients, including those seeking support for accent modification or professional voice training. 💼 Corporate Settings: This one is the most surprising to people! In corporate environments, we provide services such as accent modification, voice training, and communication coaching for professionals looking to enhance their speaking abilities. Where does EasySLP fit in? We fall under the private practice setting since our appointments are all telehealth/online. This allows us to support a wide range of client needs without the barrier of a commute!  We provide early intervention services, child speech therapy, as well as adult speech therapy. Interested in learning more about our services and if speech therapy is right for your situation? Send me a message!
