UNICEF's latest HIV estimates are a powerful reminder. While we've made incredible strides – 84% of pregnant women with HIV now receive treatment protecting their health and babies' lives, and new infections have dropped significantly since 2010 – significant gaps remain, especially for children, adolescents, and pregnant women. ➡ The starkest gap is treatment access. Only 57% of children with HIV receive life-saving antiretroviral therapy, compared to 77% of adults. Tragically, this results in 250 children under 14 dying from AIDS-related causes every single day. ➡Adolescent girls face another critical challenge. We're far from reaching the SDG target of a 90% reduction in new infections among them. Each day, 571 adolescent girls and young women become newly infected, with the vast majority (78%) in sub-Saharan Africa. These numbers underscore the urgent need to redouble our efforts. We must close the treatment gap and develop targeted interventions to protect our most vulnerable populations. Let's work together to ensure every child, adolescent, and woman has access to the care they deserve. #EndAIDS #HIVprevention #ChildrensHealth Read 👉 https://lnkd.in/dXks2fg9

We believe that every child can and should be able to learn through play. And the best thing about play is that it doesn’t have to cost a thing. Read more about why play is for everyone here: https://lnkd.in/dzVVNKpd

This leaves them vulnerable to preventable diseases. Key pointers: 👉 Global DTP3 coverage (key immunization marker) stalled at 84%. 👉Uptick in unvaccinated children (14.5 million in 2023 vs. 13.9 million in 2022). 👉Over half of unvaccinated children reside in conflict-affected regions. A new report has found which children in Australia are most likely to fall behind in reaching key developmental milestones. Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI)'s Centre for Community Child Health examined the data of 300,000 children, finding that being read to less at home was a strong indicator of developmental 'vulnerability' (measured when children started school). Other risk factors included lower household income, parents’ or carer’s education level, if a home was rented or overcrowded and whether a child experienced mental health issues. But the data also showed that unpaid childcare acted as a protective element for families living in disadvantage. MCRI Professor Sharon Goldfeld AM said governments should consider how this data could be better used to inform policy and decision making.
