This is the way. Build an Extreme Ownership Culture ⬇
President, Echelon Front | Co-Author of Extreme Ownership and The Dichotomy of Leadership | Student of Leadership
How do you build a winning culture within your team? First, everyone has to understand what the goal is. Second, they have to believe it is possible to achieve that goal. They must see an actual pathway to victory. Third, the team must be empowered to solve problems and overcome obstacles in order to move the team forward in a positive direction toward that accomplishing that goal. These three elements are the building blocks of a high-performance, winning team. Echelon Front #leadership #culture #winningteam

If I listen to my ego, I will miss out on what's important. My ego will always tell me I'm right. But what's right for me may be wrong for the team. Leaders should be focused on doing what's best for the team and mission, not themselves and their ego.

Landing on an aircraft carrier was an emotional, overwhelming experience. From the air, that carrier looked like a postage stamp, and panic always kicked in as my fighter jet approached my tiny target. There was no room for error, and I'd start to question my every move. I had a very expensive plane—and my life—on the line. But if I let my emotions take over, my already difficult job would have become almost impossible. So, I detached. Detachment is a superpower that allows us to control our emotions and avoid making bad decisions. When I feel emotions creep in – when my heartbeat starts racing, my palms start sweating – these red flags are indicators that we are losing control and on the path to failure. Detachment isn’t about having zero emotion. It’s about controlling our emotions so we can make better decisions and succeed.

This fall, we are teaming up with Mississippi State University to bring Extreme Ownership to the college level. For the first time, this partnership allows us to impact graduate-level students, who will emerge as the next generation of leaders in businesses and organizations. These credited courses are expertly led by Mississippi State University professors from the College of Professional and Continuing Studies, with subject matter expertise and support from Echelon Front’s Corey Mize and Cordell Bennigson, trained Leadership Instructors. Together, they will guide students through a curriculum grounded in the principles and practical application of Extreme Ownership. Leadership isn’t just important on the battlefield or in the classroom—it’s the ultimate factor determining success in any field. Learn more about this inaugural course here: https://lnkd.in/gK9H6_9F

"Losing your temper is a weakness." - Jocko Willink Yelling at your people doesn't motivate them to work harder or follow your orders. Your anger can sabotage your relationships, destroy mutual respect, and jeopardize your leadership ability. Don't get riled up in an argument. Keep your emotions in check.
