Few days ago, we had a very interesting and energizing conversation with other CTOs in Paris, thanks to FlowCon France 🙏 As usual, it was about fostering the performance of engineering teams, and it was remarkable how fast the participants put aside the question of metrics as a goal per se, to talk about culture, context and... impact 🎯 🎯 🎯 "How to bridge the gap between engineering efforts and business value" is a question that surface more and more in the current literature (blog post, newsletters etc). Behind this debate is the question of putting the engineering force at the core of an organization, being proactive, more than being a cost center or a feature factory. Metrics, tools etc 📈 📊 are meant to raise awareness and start conversations, they help managers, but they can't replace interactions, empathy and relationships. I started Echoes HQ with the hope that I could have a positive impact on engineering organizations other than my own. 💡 Last week, a Head of Engineering told us how Echoes HQ helped them make a case to their leadership to hire more engineers, as the focus was getting diluted by an increasing number of projects and maintenance was rising. 💡 The month before, a CTO in the midst of cost reductions told us how Echoes HQ helped them preserve a significant percentage of their budget by shining a light on what the business impact of potential layoffs would be. We’re doing something right 🙂

The most recurrent question that engineering leaders have to answer in their day-to-day life is an endless variation of : "will you deliver on time?" ⏰ This has been one of our main focus these last weeks, let's dig into it ! https://lnkd.in/ek3M_WGF
