Now everyone, even in the back: 🎶H—O—T—T—O—G—O 🎶 Ditch the plastic on-the-go 🎶H—O—T—T—O—G—O 🎶 Take your water to the show
I must admit that I had fun making this little post. The topic of sustainability can be dry and at times scary, but I am determined to continue to try to find the fun, the joy, the inspiring... Yes, there are very real and terrifying truths out there that we cannot and should not ignore, but there are also attainable and hopeful actions we can take to make a difference. Challenge for this week: take your water bottle with you, everywhere. Hydration is important. #saynottosingleuseplastic #ditchthedisposable #reuse

ECOFIXR reposted this
Today was the first day of school for many kids today, and we had an excessive heat warning. The first day of school they didn't get to go outside and run with their friends at recess. My son was pretty bummed. I acknowledge that recess is a privilege that not all are afforded for various reasons. Still, it is hard not to ignore how climate change is affecting everyone, even our little ones. It's moments like this that truly keep me going with my work at ECOFIXR. Change is possible, and I will continue to educate and advocate for a better way to create art.

We all want to see positive change in our industry, but let’s be honest—understanding the process and recognizing the critical importance of investment can be challenging. This is a great read. For those who are not familiar with sustainable consultancies, this is a beautiful quote from Green Eye Productions about sustainable consultancy services: "We plan with you from the beginning. That's what will help the most. Consultancies are also familiar with the land and layout, the suppliers, and the regional availability. Consultancies have the added benefit of having worked on multiple productions...but also have a presence in the industry at large, lobbying for new policies, keeping an eye on infrastructural updates, doing R&D projects, working on refining solutions, analyzing scripts from a sustainability POV, organizing events and drumming up interest across different departments or providing training and much more. Consultants are your link to the world; they have done the market analysis of your production needs to get state-of-the-art sustainability choices. Our job also entails meticulous data collection, so productions to come can benefit from the learnings we gain on each project while simultaneously ensuring all efforts are well-documented and reported, which is essential for the certification process. Finally, guiding the production through the certification process helps meet all criteria and standards required for the EMA Green Sea and benefits the industry in the long run. By partnering with a sustainability consulting company, productions can effectively integrate sustainability into their operations, achieving recognized standards for eco-friendly filmmaking."

We have been seeing a lot of single-use plastic water bottles on the tv recently, and it has been disheartening. This is a problem. What happens on tv and movie screens heavily influences our society, so we need to do better on screen and in reality. It is the last day of Plastic Free July, so please join us in using our collective voice for change! Here are some great resources of petitions and action items to demand the elimination of single-use plastic. The Blue Paradox has gathered a great list of petitions to use your voice to action. https://lnkd.in/emDupQcs The Illinois Environmental Council also has a great petition that you can sign: https://lnkd.in/gag9JNKy Plastic Pollution Coalition is another amazing resource: https://lnkd.in/g5cBgyHn Thank you to everyone who is actively working with policymakers to ban single-use plastic. #collectivevoice #oneplanet #plasticpollution #producefilmsnotwaste #chicagofilm #Sustainability
