Former Amazonian Chris McCabe helps sellers communicate with Amazon to protect (and save) their businesses. EcommerceChris was the first company founded by a former Amazonian designed specifically to help suspended marketplace sellers. After working for Amazon for many years evaluating seller account performance and enforcing Amazon’s policies, Chris launched ecommerceChris. He teaches sellers how to think like Amazon, protect their accounts, and appeal listing restrictions and suspensions. As we enter the most important sales period of the year, your Amazon account’s security should be a top priority. Mistakes on any of the below steps could result in one or more account compromises, lost sales, frustrations and panic over how long it will take you to regain account control. Three vital security measures can go a long way in protecting your business: 1. Create a Dedicated Email Address for Amazon Use Only Make sure your Amazon account’s primary email address is unique and used exclusively for your Amazon account. No one else should be able to see it or even know what it is, in order to keep it fully private. This minimizes the risk of hackers targeting commonly used or exposed email addresses. 2. Avoid Clicking Links in Emails, Even if They Appear Legitimate Phishing attacks are a common tactic for gaining unauthorized access. ALWAYS be cautious when you receive emails claiming to be from Amazon, even if they look genuine. Instead of clicking it to sign in, only access the account via Seller Central. I know receiving new alerts or performance notifications make you want to look at it right away, but don't let that make. you sloppy or reckless in how you do it. 3. Use Separate User Permissions for Employees Make use of Amazon’s user permissions feature instead of sharing your primary login credentials. Each user should have access only to the functions they need. If you add access for a service, make sure it's gone and deleted as soon as you stop working with them. Taking these precautionary measures seriously will help safeguard your account and keep your business running smoothly throughout Q4 and beyond.

With Amazon Prime Big Deal Days around the corner (Oct 8-9), ask yourself this-- have you previously noticed your competitor landing lightning deals too often? They're potentially gaming the system—and likely, they're abusing it in ways that could and should be prevented. Clients often tell us their competitors found ways to secure deals constantly, while others struggle to get their deals in. 7-day deals and lightning deals abuse came up a lot last Prime Day, 2ill this fall and Q4 continue that trend? Amazon reps may point to bad metrics or policy violations that don't exist, or that you already handled, to brush aside this trend. In reality, some sellers are finding ways to bypass the rules. There's no viable system to track and eliminate this. If your competitors are consistently outpacing you in deals, it might be time to investigate, report it, and push it up the chain.
