The Economic Justice Fund is a mission-driven Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to providing fair, affordable financing and free credit-building services to empower borrowers to realize their dreams. We envision a financial system that provides equal access to financing and opportunity for all Americans. Our loans have low fixed rates, no application fees, no origination fees, no servicing fees, and no prepayment fees. We also offer flexible terms and underwriting to meet the needs of a wide range of borrowers.

I am honored to share that the Economic Justice Fund was awarded a Small Dollar Loan Program grant by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund). The award will be utilized to scale our innovative Equitable Opportunity Loan and provide free credit-building services to empower each low-income borrower to build a strong financial foundation to achieve their goals. Today, the Economic Justice Fund was awarded funding through the inaugural round of the California Investment & Innovation Program (Cal IIP). We are honored to receive this award and greatly appreciate Treasurer Fiona Ma and Senators Monique Limón and Anna Caballero for championing the Cal IIP to empower #CDFIs to serve disadvantaged communities in #CA. The Economic Justice Fund will use Cal IIP funding to scale our Equitable Opportunity Loan for low-income Californians in need of financing for emergency expenses or to refinance out of a payday or predatory loan. Equitable Opportunity Loans provide a safe and affordable alternative to borrowers who need loans but cannot access financing from traditional lenders. In addition, all Equitable Opportunity Loan borrowers receive free credit-building services to establish a solid financial foundation for their lives.
