Teacher optimism towards the direction of K-12 education rebounded this fall. Overall positivity among teachers had plummeted to all-time low levels in our last survey of teachers in the spring. Report link: https://lnkd.in/d326HFeb

In our new Teachers survey, we asked questions about accountability and judging school performance. We asked teachers to what extent, if any, they felt schools should be held responsible for: student academic learning, student engagement, parent engagement, and parent satisfaction. While the majority of teachers feel schools should be held accountable for student academic learning (79%) and student engagement (70%), only 35% of teachers feel that schools are accountable for parent satisfaction.

Like students, teachers provide first-hand perspectives on what exactly goes on in the classroom every day. With the help of Morning Consult, EdChoice researchers were able to ask an array of questions regarding their profession, their school, and more. Our researchers compiled the toplines in this blog, check it out! https://lnkd.in/gzUi4vFu

Funding caps on educational choice programs shouldn't limit student opportunities. Research assistant Cooper Conway wrote this op-ed describing how funding caps on programs can leave so many families out of accessing the education their child needs. They have to hope and wait for better luck next year, but these families deserve more than hope, they deserve opportunities. https://lnkd.in/d5aDdiVE

Closures may be inevitable—unless districts turn to a creative approach by embracing school choice and transforming their unused space into opportunities for diverse educational options. Enrollment in traditional public schools has continued to decline and closures have started. EdChoice's Dr. Marty Lueken wrote this piece in Real Clear Education explaining how educational choice can help families affected by declining enrollment. https://lnkd.in/gNCwyEpF

Do choice programs cause “budget meltdowns” as critics are now claiming? The $3.7 B cost for choice programs is 0.3% of the $1.2 Trillion that states with choice programs spend on all public services. That doesn't seem like a fiscal meltdown to us. https://lnkd.in/gauUAcmF

Choice program funding through FY 2022 was $3.7 B, just 1% of the $383 B that public schools received in states with choice programs. Opponents point to the tiny bar and declare, “That’s the problem!” Why is that? #EdFunding https://lnkd.in/g-f_YnJN
