Last night, over 150 #edtech professionals discussed Sal Khan's Brave New Words at the Edtech Insiders Book Club. Their #1 concern? 🌍 Can AI truly enhance equity and access in children's education? Or could it have the opposite effect? 🤔 Will AI widen the gap between the fortunate and those less so? 💼 Will AI free up teachers' time, or leave them sidelined? And perhaps the most heart-wrenching question of all: 💔 Is AI tutoring stripping away the emotional connection that kids need? "Brave New Words" left these crucial questions largely unanswered, but one thing is clear: AI in education isn't just a passing trend—it's here to stay. What surprised me most in all this is how slowly industry peers felt a shift could happen. In a live poll, the majority predicted that AI tutoring will be widely adopted by kids ... between 2-5 years. 🐌 I doubt this timeline was in Sal Khan's mind when launching Khanmigo over a year ago, but it's an important reality check. So, what do you think? Is widespread AI tutoring among young kids just around the corner, or are we still years away?
