Do you have questions about ballot question #2 regarding MCAS as a graduation requirement? The Worcester Education Collaborative has shared a helpful review of both perspectives on Youtube. Grab the link below and be informed before heading to the polls on November 5th.
In November of 2024, voters across the Commonwealth will have the opportunity to weigh in on a key question facing education in Massachusetts: should public school students be required to pass the MCAS, the state’s standardized test, to graduate from high school? The citizen-initiated ballot question would eliminate this requirement. Watch representatives from both sides engage in a lively point-counterpoint debate on this issue. Melissa Verdier, President of the Education Association of Worcester, argues in favor of the ballot measure. Timothy Murray, President & CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, opposes the measure. The discussion is moderated by Dina Tedeschi, a Worcester parent and Family & Community Engagement Specialist at Worcester Education Collaborative. ▶️ To view the recording of this event, FAQ from attendees, and other materials please visit: https://lnkd.in/eCtqWfH8 Spanish interpretation will be released soon. Please check back. View the MA Secretary of the Commonwealth Voter Guide (available in multiple languages): https://lnkd.in/e6GFQnpF ** Sponsored by the Worcester Education Collaborative and the Worcester Education Equity Roundtable, this event is intended to help our community work together towards a stronger, more inclusive educational system for our children and our community.
