Once again, a successful year it was! 🕺 There could not be a better way to celebrate our dedicated #FieldAgents for their consistency in their quality delivery of results. From the northern #Ghana to the south, our Agents have been very resilient and we are saying a big #THANKYOU! As far as I am concerned, a celebrated win, marks a trajectory for more successive wins. Therefore, not only, as a company or team, are we expressing our profound gratitude for a good job done for the 2023/2024 season but we are also paving the way for greater wins in the year ahead as we kick-start 6 projects covering cocoa, and maize in the southern and northern Ghana respectively. #WorkersCelebration #HappyWorker #NewSeason #GhanaCocoa

What do you know about #Permaculture? I know it for one thing out of the lot - the practical way to really achieve our collective effort toward attaining the SDGs for our world by being super conscious of the well-being of our environment. 🌿 🌾 🌍

It was an exciting experience and at the same time a learning opportunity for me and my family to have visited #AdwumaYeFoundation at #Bimbila district within the northern region of #Ghana. For the first time, not only was I hearing about #Permaculture but also seeing it and taught on how it is done and why every bit of its structure works and matters. Permaculture, simply is a permanent agriculture. To my understanding, there is a complete consciousness injected in every step of the way in the establishment of permaculture. It is believed to be an ancient method of farming but one done in harmony with the natural environment. Being at Suhudooyili, the permaculture site, I felt that tranquility just by being there alone. The entire land (approximately 2 hectares) was covered completely with sawdust, peanut husks and rice husks, mulching every tiniest plants, and tapering trees that were there. I was equally taken aback for experiencing that unique microclimate at play, supporting trees that are "not meant" to grow or even "thrive" within that savannah grassland of the northern Ghana. Trees species such as palm trees, date palm, avocado, pawpaw, plantain, banana and other plants sensitive to the harsh northern climate were not only growing there but beautifully thriving beyond imagination. There was also a testament of permaculture supporting circular economy. It fosters complete acceptance of everything natural but rejecting anything artificial. Even the tiniest microplastic was searched for every single day within Suhudooyili. Both humans and animals' waste were considered as cherished resources that are readily processed and readily reused - a complete and closed loop of resources usage. I thought of my cocoa farmers when I saw how organic compost was being made. With the numerous cocoa and other crops farmers in Ghana lacking access to fertilizers, can we offer them training on how they could establish composts within their farm routine and use it to nourish their crops? When I spoke of harmony with nature, it was not only about permaculture not endorsing inorganic products or not burning of weeds or not using weedicides. Yes, permaculture that I saw, did not entertain any of those! However, the harmony was that, even the lizards, within that ecosystem, were considered in the structural design of the area and also the chicken were also considered - through the installation of a cooling water section where they cool their hot feet in a pool of water out of the heating of the land during an intense hot sunny day. Permaculture, is indeed not only an act of delight but a sustainable way of living for humanity, if we really want to effectively mitigate climate change on our planet. It is not only farmers who are to adopt this revolutionary way of producing food, but all must embrace it to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal for our planet, #SustainableLiving #ClimateChan #FoodSecurity

Illegal mining, popularly known as "Galamsey" is indeed a ticking bomb for our country Ghana. Sadly, the leadership of our country have failed. They are gambling gold with the very resources that ensure our survival as a people. Lands are degraded, all rivers are turbid, uninhabitable by living things, our cocoa lands in the regions that have consistently contributed a significant percentage of the cocoa yield, that has put us on the world cocoa map, are becoming a dead zone for cocoa farms. We are calling on not only the citizens of Ghana but also relevant international bodies to intervene on behalf of the good people of Ghana. If care is not taken, getting a good and clean water will be a thing of the past. The time to act is NOW!!! Let's Reduce pollution Conserve water Protect riverine ecosystems Promote sustainable river management #PreserveOurRivers, #StopGalamseyNow #WeNeedCleanRivers #SaveRiversToday #WaterTomorrow #WWF #IUCN #WFP #ARocha #EcoEmpowerAlliance

With the support of Adwuma Ye Foundation, in collaboration with EcoEmpower Alliance, a week-long capacity-building program was held for five women on the repurposing plastic waste into useful items. These upcycled materials included school bags, pencil and pen cases, shopping bags, hand bags, hats, mini traveling bags and many more. This program was geared towards addressing the plastic pollution which has engulfed our communities and also as a means of empowering marginalised women in seeing the opportunity in those waste as resources and also building their capacity to be able to attain other sources of revenue streams. This program has also emphasised the importance of collaboration between CSOs in building a resilient society in the midst of impacts of climate change, gender inequalities and other challenges that we are confronted with on a daily basis. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue the journey of social change by impacting positively on our lives. #ecoempoweralliance #adumayefoundation #Plasticwasterecycling #SDGs #sustainability #capacitybuilding #womensupportingwomen

It's been an incredible week collaborating with Adumay3 Foundation to provide capacity training for women on repurposing plastic waste. Empowering women to transform plastic waste into valuable items not only promotes environmental sustainability but also creates new economic opportunities for these communities. Together, we're taking meaningful steps toward a cleaner environment and a brighter, greener future! #EcoEmpowerAlliance #WomenEmpowerment #PlasticWasteRecycling #SDGs #breakfreefromplastics #CommunityEmpowerment #Sustainability #CleanEnvironment

Our team of EcoEmpower Alliance just completed an intensive four days workshop on "Collaborations for Landscape Restoration", organized by West African Center for Water, Irrigation and Sustainable Agriculture (WACWISA), the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the University for Development Studies (UDS), and other key partners. The aim of the workshop was to address the critical issues related to climate resilience, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable landscape management in Ghana and Africa at large. The workshop highlights key strategies meant for restoring degraded landscapes, enhancing climate resilience at the local communities, whiles fostering collaborations among multiple and relevant stakeholders to achieve these restoration goals. For us as an organisation in Ghana, have found this program a timely one and more relevant in r relationship to the current state of the Ghanaian landscapes - where vast forested lands are degraded and cocoa farms are constantly degraded due to the wanton illegal mining (galamsey) activities. This has not only destroyed lands and forest reserves but almost the entire rivers in the country have been heavily polluted leading to the destruction of Biodiversity. So, it'll take restoration knowledge, skills and expertise in order to turn the unfortunate situation around. During this workshop, we engaged in meaningful discussions and hands-on sections aimed at restoring degraded landscapes, enhancing climate resilience in our communities, and forging vital partnerships for sustainable development. At EcoEmpower Alliance, we believe this is a significant step forward in our mission to empower communities and protect our environment. A requisite tool needed to not only bring sanity to our degrading landscapes but enough knowledge to influence policy changes. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our work towards a greener, more resilient future!
