About us
The Education Finance Analyst Program (EFA Program) is a collaborative effort between charter school finance leaders to recruit and train early-stage professionals to succeed in mission-driven financial services roles. Each participant will serve in a full-time, salaried role as an Investment Analyst at a sponsor organization in support of critical work undertaken by these leading partners in the sector. The EFA Program is committed to diversity and inclusion and encourages diverse candidates to apply. The Mission: Through this two-year program, Fellows address the financial and real estate challenges facing public charter schools as they continue to promote educational equity. The Training: Fellows will serve in full-time roles as Investment Analysts in support of critical work undertaken by sector leaders such as Afton Partners, Civic Builders, and Equitable Facilities Fund. This fellowship will be supported by an initial five-week joint training program designed to foster mission-alignment, understanding of the education sector, development of technical skills, and followed by continued professional development. What Comes Next: After the two-year program, Fellows may be eligible for continued employment or may go on to take roles with mission-oriented investment firms, lenders, banks, consultants, charter schools, and other organizations committed to leveraging finance for social good. The power of partnership is hard at work in the Silver State! We are pleased to welcome Futuro Academy Charter School as our latest school partner, and the first Nevada #publiccharter to receive a loan through the innovative Nevada Facilities Fund. Serving 450 students in grades K-5 in a former grocery store, Futuro has transformed the educational landscape for lower-income students of color and ELL learners in East Las Vegas. The NVFF loan will be used to purchase its previously leased facility, saving the school $130,000 annually and directing more resources into the classroom. Last Thursday, Yesha Shah and Crystal Roman presented their summer foundation project to their Education Finance Analyst (EFA) cohort in NYC. The project examined the funding formulas used by Chicago Public Schools and how they can impact facility affordability for charter schools. Their goal was to connect what they have learned in the collaborative EFA program with their work at Afton. With the support and mentoring of Kathy Olsen, Brytain Tate, Fulton Breen, and a few others, they were able to showcase their findings. It was a great intellectual experience and the culmination of a summer of growth. Congrats to the whole group of fellows sponsored by Afton, Equitable Facilities Fund and Civic Builders!

During our Summer Foundations Ceremony on Thursday, our second cohort of Education Finance Analyst (EFA) Fellows at Civic Builders, Afton Partners, and Equitable Facilities Fund presented their final projects and celebrated their completion of the 8-week training program.
