In the world's poorest communities, lack of electricity puts lives at risk. 🏥 At Mwenge Dispensary in Dar es Salaam, #Tanzania, expectant mothers face life-threatening risks due to the absence of power, making it difficult to provide essential medical support during labour. For these women and their healthcare providers, #OffGridSolar solutions, like those provided by our Research and Development Fund grantee Sun King, are key to fostering a more resilient future. Powering healthcare services, safeguarding medicine storage, and ensuring life-saving treatments can transform access to healthcare in the most vulnerable regions.⚕️ So, where do we begin? Innovators from around the world gathered at the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo. Continuing our covering of International Women’s Day, today we’re spotlighting two female innovators from the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge – Vallary Shinaywa and Joy Muntet. From rural challenges to engineering solutions, their journeys into the field of innovative sustainable energy are an inspiration to budding female engineers. Through the Efficiency for Access Design Challenge, Vallary and Joy have been mentored, successfully applied for funding for their solar irrigation system, and worked to develop clean energy solutions that can help strengthen food security. As part of the Challenge’s Accelerator Programme, they continue to refine their innovations and work with industry experts who help bring their ideas to life.
