When it comes to battling allergic dermatitis, little Trooper certainly earned his name. Trooper, a year-old Yorkshire Terrier, suffered from allergic dermatitis and was experiencing year-around itching that was impacting his quality of life and keeping him from normal puppy play. His owner and veterinarian tried multiple treatment options, but nothing worked to their satisfaction…Until he was enrolled as a participant in the Zenrelia™ (ilunocitinib tablets) clinical trial. During the clinical trial, Trooper overcame his battle with allergic itch. He started the trial with an itch level of 10/10 on the PVAS (pruritus visual analog scale) and by the end of the trial, he was at a 1.1, with anything below a 2 being a normal level of itch. There’s a new allergic itch treatment and it’s helping dogs – like Trooper – reach for Zen. Learn more at ZenreliaForVets.com. #WeAreElanco See package insert including the Boxed Warning. For full prescribing information speak with your veterinarian, call 1 888 545 5973 or visit https://lnkd.in/gsYNzUhM.     WARNING: VACCINE-INDUCED DISEASE AND INADEQUATE IMMUNE RESPONSE TO VACCINES. Based on results of the vaccine response study, dogs receiving Zenrelia are at risk of fatal vaccine-induced disease and inadequate immune response to vaccines. Dogs should not take Zenrelia for a time period before and after vaccination. Discuss your dog’s vaccine schedule with your veterinarian.

For more than two decades, we have worked with key stakeholders and customers across the food chain supporting reductions in the use of medically important antibiotics and bringing new prevention tools to market. This includes supporting initiatives that develop a broad ranging consensus for better animal health and disease prevention, alongside actions in human health and environment, as an important pathway to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in a One Health context. Last week, the United Nations passed its 2nd Political Declaration on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and providing leadership on global action against AMR. We welcome the United Nations and their leadership toward creating a global consensus in three areas: - Disease prevention: Commitment for all nations to have animal vaccination strategies with defined implementation plans by 2030, recognizing “the need to prioritize and fund the implementation to prevent and control infections.” - Science-based solutions: Call for creation of an ‘independent panel’ that can provide the scientific evidence necessary to address AMR in a One Health manner. - Access to animal health tools: Commitment to “promote the timely supply of quality and affordable essential veterinary medicines, vaccines and diagnostics”, acknowledging the need to improve diagnostic use and increase the number of veterinarians, veterinary paraprofessionals and paraprofessionals globally. We will continue working with governments and stakeholders to implement key parts of the Declaration important to our industry including, continued promotion of responsible use of antimicrobials, strengthening and investment in animal health systems and research, develop and market products and services which help reduce the need for medically important antibiotics including vaccines and nutritional products. #WeAreElanco Photo Courtesy: UN Photo/Mark Garten

New technologies 🤝 livestock sustainability Last week our team took part in key #ClimateWeek discussions talking about the future of animal agriculture and the path towards climate neutral farming. The key? Technologies and science-based research. President and CEO, Jeff Simmons, spoke with state agriculture leaders at the NASDA conference on cultivating technology in agriculture. One health solutions - where human, animal and environmental health converge - require science-backed research to help guide and regulate the industry toward a more sustainable future. Jesse Sevcik, Global Public Affairs, Policy and Sustainability, presented at the Global Dairy Platform and Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef event to discuss how through innovative technologies, livestock can play a key role in tackling the reduction of enteric methane. As we look to tackle some of the most pressing climate challenges, new technology and livestock must work hand-in-hand to help pave the way. #WeAreElanco

Want to hear a secret? You can enjoy a burger without the misperceived guilt! The cow can be how we help solve global challenges -- from feeding a growing world population high quality protein to reducing the environmental impact. In a recent article with Fast Co, Jeff Simmons, President and CEO, discusses how the cow’s environmental footprint is changing, putting us on a path to climate neutral livestock farming in this decade. So go ahead, order that burger, in fact, make it a cheeseburger. #WeAreElanco #ClimateWeek https://bit.ly/4eyHd8H

Cows and #ClimateWeek can co-exist. Earlier this year, we experienced the warmest day in Earth's recorded history. The most efficient opportunity to mitigate warming? Methane. - Methane is 27 x more potent than carbon dioxide at trapping heat - So small reductions create a greater impact on temperature Check out a conversation with our CEO and a leading climate expert to learn more. https://bit.ly/3zurDMp

This is the moment we have been itching for! Today, we announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Zenrelia™ (ilunocitinib tablets), a safe, highly effective, and convenient once-daily oral JAK inhibitor for control of pruritus (itching) associated with allergic dermatitis and control of atopic dermatitis in dogs at least 12 months of age. Itching is one of the top reasons pet owners bring their dogs to the veterinarian with approximately 17 million dogs in the U.S. suffering from allergic skin disease, including atopic dermatitis, food allergies or flea sensitivity.(1) The approval of Zenrelia represents an important advancement in treating itchy dogs suffering from chronic, acute or seasonal itch and inflammation in a single, once daily tablet from the start. Today’s announcement makes us just the second animal health company, with a comprehensive portfolio including parasiticides, vaccines, pain and other therapeutics, and now, dermatology. Each year, an estimated 330,000(1) dogs are diagnosed with canine parvovirus — one of the deadliest viruses a dog can contract — resulting in up to a 91%(2) mortality rate without supportive care. A patient with parvovirus can be exhausting and stressful for clinic staff. But with our USDA-conditionally approved Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody, veterinarians are seeing real, effective results. #WeAreElanco 1: Elanco. From Australia to Brazil, our global team is making their presence known. Recently, our Australian pet team attended the Australian Small Animal Veterinarians and Veterinary Business Group conference. With more than 350 veterinarians, this has become one of the region’s most comprehensive small animal conferences. The team featured an interactive exhibition booth for veterinary professionals to learn about our innovative animal health solutions. In Brazil, the swine team attended the Southern Brazilian Swine Symposium. In addition to connecting with customers at our booth, Isis Mariana Pasian, Technical Consultant, presented on ensuring farm rodent control. This event reinforced our contribution to the swine industry’s development with effective solutions. #WeAreElanco

Intestinal tapeworms are a real threat for both dogs and humans. These worms can easily be transmitted from your pet to you, taking exposure from "ick" to "sick". Dr. Elise Kelly, Elanco Senior Regional Consulting Veterinarian, joined Fox28 Columbus to discuss the risks and symptoms of tapeworms, how dogs can contract them and the importance of year-round protection. #WeAreElanco https://bit.ly/4gdxgzc
