George Woodrow has been setting records most of his life. He was the first Black quarterback at Kilgore College in East Texas, and the first Black person to start the position at North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas. One year after becoming principal at Carpenter Elementary School in Dallas ISD, which had been struggling to perform, every single fifth grader passed the state assessment.
