Today, we remember and honor Dan and Wyatt Hordov, whose lives were tragically cut short earlier this year. Dan was not only a dedicated husband and father, but also a person whose commitment to our community touched everyone he met. His son Wyatt’s exuberant and loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever. In memory of Dan and Wyatt, our hearts go out to their family and friends. In response to their family’s wishes for donations to Ele’s Place today is sponsored by Tim, Penny, Eric and Dawn Joy. They are honored to support Ele's Place and provide resources to support grieving children and families. It is especially fitting to support a cause that brings comfort and hope to others as we remember the beautiful impact Dan and Wyatt had on our lives.

As Children’s Grief Awareness Month begins, I want to share why this observance means so much to me. My twin sister and I lost our mom when we were just 9 years old. If Ele’s Place had been around in 1982, Mitra and I might have beautiful memories of our mother to hold onto. Without access to counseling or grief support, we have few memories from our childhood before her passing. I am proud to support Ele’s Place and their mission to ensure that no child or teen grieves alone. At Ele’s Place Ann Arbor, we are committed to helping children and teens navigate the challenging journey of grief after losing a loved one. — Leyla Conlan, Ele’s Place Ann Arbor Community Board Member

Today, we honor the memory of Richard Hartman, a beloved husband and father whose legacy lives on in the hearts of his family. In loving memory, Richard’s wife and daughter have chosen to support Ele’s Place, helping ensure no child or teen has to navigate grief alone. Their generous sponsorship allows us to provide vital, free support services to grieving families in our community.

Today, on what would have been his birthday, we honor and remember Bob Smith—a proud Marine, avid fisherman, and lover of all things outdoors. Bob’s family remembers him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he is deeply missed by all who knew him. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his wife, Joanne Smith, and the Smith family—Jay, Tymi, Cooper, Cazzi, Laurie and Roch Smith, Jill Smith, and John Neuenfeldt—for sponsoring today in Bob's memory during Children’s Grief Awareness Month. Your support helps ensure that no grieving child has to walk this journey alone. Happy Birthday, Bob. Thank you, Smith family, for helping us bring healing to young hearts. #ChildrensGriefAwareness #SupportGrievingKids #HealingHearts #GriefSupportForKids #Elesplace

Special thank you to our Ann Arbor Community Board Members, Michelle Loveless and Michael Spath for challenging their friends and family to sponsor a day in November for Children’s Grief Awareness Month! Michael and Michelle are matching up to $300 each from folks in their networks who provide $300 (or more!) to support Ele’s Place Ann Arbor in providing peer-to-peer support for a kid or teen for one full year. While our programs are ALWAYS free to the families we serve, the cost to us is about $600 a year per participant. Will you give the same challenge to your networks as Michael and Michelle?! One day at a time, we can help to ensure that no child has to grieve alone! donate here: https://lnkd.in/eS7UPFtN
