I feel like one reason this stat is increasing is because of social media. The majority of the population that regularly spends pointless time on SM starts losing the ability to foster real connections while creating a false perception of reality. Comparing yourself to some influencer that you follow will have a detrimental impact on your self confidence and willingness to be in vulnerable situations like a fitness center. I'm interested in a dialogue on how, as Fitness Professionals, we can move this trend back in the right direction. Society needs to exercise to feel GOOD and we need them to come to our places of business and feel GOOD!

“GYM-BARRASSMENT” IS AT 68%! 49% Report Needing More Confidence... Are you selling confidence? I think most of us in the fitness industry have heard this but that recent data point from the ASICS Corporation survey has that rising! I did a deep dive on this before 2020 and the range from various sources came back reporting the "Gymtimidation" mark at 37% - 54%! The highest report before this was from Planet Fitness which makes sense considering that is a customer segment for them. I've always thought about the motivation and confidence side of the equation in fitness and for those "lifers" you know fitness can give this to you by doing it but what can we do about those who let it be the "barrier". Curious when this problem to the masses will be solved and who will solve it #Gymtimidation #Gymembarrassment #Fitness #Gyms #ASICS
