Our manufacturing plant in Raeford, NC was honored to host Brigadier General Maddox, Lieutenant Colonel Monroe, and representatives of the United States Department of Defense Logistics Agency last week.   This was an exciting opportunity to discuss one of our current initiatives with the U.S. military—the development and production of fabric for the newest military branch, the United States Space Force.   “It was great to host the General and allow him to see firsthand the complexities and processes involved in making worsted wool fabrics for the U.S. military dress uniforms,” said Michael Lyon, President Technical Fabrics. “There was a good dialogue exchange regarding the overall priorities of the military for the supply of dress uniform fabrics and specifically the launch of the new Space Force uniforms.”   Burlington is proud to supply military fabrics for more than 70 years continuing our partnership to support our armed forces.   Elevate Textiles Leadership Team members also joined the visit including CEO Jeffrey P. Pritchett, CFO Elliott Barker, and Michael Lyon.

Every drop counts. Recently, the Vietnam Red Cross Society held a blood drive in Ho Chi Minh City. Blood donations provide lifesaving support to hospitals and patients in urgent need of blood transfusions. This event saw an overwhelming response from our A&E Vietnam team members. “Willingness to give a part of yourselves to help others is truly inspiring and embodies our core values,” said A&E HR and Admin Manager, Klara Doan. “We are immensely proud of the generosity and community spirit shown by our A&E Vietnam employees and their commitment to making a difference.” For more information on A&E, our sustainability efforts, and quality thread products, visit amefird.com. #aecares #empoweringlives #communitysupport #aethread

In 2020, Cone Denim partnered with Oritain to become the first denim mill in the world to use forensic science to trace our material sourcing. Five years later, this partnership has expanded and influenced the denim industry, and beyond, to advance traceable sourcing practices. Oritain tests products and verifies their origins using forensic science. This helps brands and consumers buy confidently, knowing they support responsible, ethical practices. Through the extended partnership over the years, we continue to assure our customers that denim produced by the company is authentic, true to source, and complies with our cotton sourcing policies. It allows Cone to confidently reaffirm our origin of ethical sourcing and supply chain transparency. We Are Cone Denim (World Cotton Day Edition) // Daren Barnes   Daren Barnes remembers riding by the “enormous” White Oak Plant the night before his first interview. He applied after graduating from college and can still remember how excited he was to get the opportunity to come to work for Cone. Daren would soon spend the first 15 years of his tenure at the historic White Oak Plant, where he was originally hired as a Management Trainee.   After a sudden change of plans in the plant, Daren landed an unexpected job in the dye house. Although he couldn’t see it yet—this job would allow opportunities for him to become the Slashing Department Manager and even an ITT Fellow at the Institute of Textile Technology, where he would obtain his master’s degree in Textile Science.   After graduating, he returned to White Oak and worked in numerous roles such as the Plant Production Manager. Another opportunity opened for Daren when he was asked if he would like to pursue a job as the Strategic Procurement Manager working with our cotton buyer for the denim division, facilities, and suppliers.    Now, 33 years into his career at Cone, Daren is known as our internal “Cotton Expert” as he supports us as the head of procurement. He believes his greatest accomplishment at Cone is having led the cotton purchasing over the past 17 years and helping navigate the numerous industry changes along the way.    When he is not at work, you can find Daren playing tennis with his family or being in the stands at a Wake Forest sporting event.   Thank you, Daren, for all you do and for being a part of the family. You make us who we are. 💙💫👖 -- #conedenim #weareconedenim #denimcommunity #worldcottonday
